Questions about shift differentials

What kind of policies your hospital has on a shift differentials..I will be working evening times and my facility starts their diff at 6 pm.

I'm still in orientation on days, but am about to move to nights soon. The only shift diff we have is +$3.00 for nights (7p-7a) and +$1.00 for weekends.

Ours is $3 for the 7pm-7am shift

I know somebody whose shift spans different 8 hour shifts and differential times. They are paid accordingly, the PM shift diff for PM hours, the NOC shift diff for NOC hours, and day shift rate for the day shift. Same goes for holiday diffs with a little difference. They only get part of the holiday rate, for the shift that "begins" on the holiday. It doesn't combine over two shifts.

10% 3p-11p, 15% 11p-7a, 25% weekend

Working evening shift 3p-11:30p = 7.5 hours at 10% diff and 0.5 hours at 15% diff

10% differential from 1800 to 0800 the next morning

25% differential on weekends

I think they try to confuse us as much as possible. 99% of the nurses work 12 hrs shifts. But they breakdown the diffs on one's paycheck by 8hr shifts, though they are the same for evenings (3-11) & nights (11-7). So on one's paycheck it is broken down into about 6 codes; 3 for each weekday shift & 3 for each weekend shift.

Then there's this whole other complicated system of coding one's shifts if one is weekend plan. I certainly don't understand it though I'm confident I am cheated a few times a years due to my lack of dedication to figuring it out. The diffs are like $4/hr for nights and $4 for weekends, with additional amount if one contracts as weekend plan. It's competitive for our area, cause believe me, people around here shop around. It doesn't have the effect it's supposed to though. People still line up (as in we have a list that entails approximately a 2 year wait) to go to day shift. People just complain about the decreased paycheck, but in general they stay on day shift. If they come back to nights, it's never been for the pay.

When I worked at UPMC, shift differential was a small percentage of your pay (something like 7%.) For example, I made $10.02/hour (as a receptionist), but worked evenings and nights, and ended up making I think $10.73/hour. There, shifts were broken into 7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a, and differential was paid 3p-7a.

shift diff at the hospital I work at is $4 per hours worked from 1500-0700

Most of the people on my floor work 12 hr shifts; 7p-7a is paid at a 14% differential. It equals about $3.25/hr difference.

Working 7p-7a is considered as night shift differential which is $5.25/hr on top of our base rate. If I worked 3p-11p that is evening shift differential which is just $2.50/hr. And per union contract we got our raise yesterday woohoo;)

I'm in Texas and we get 15% from 7p to 11p and then 25% from 11p to 7a. We also get $2.50/hr diff for the weekends. Borta, where are you that your diff is so low?
