Nurses smoking weed?

  1. Hey nurses,

In honor of "420" tomorrow... As a health-care professional, what are your thoughts on smoking weed? Any nurses out there that smoke a joint here and there?

    Cheers.

I would never risk my job or license for something so trivial.

Totally agree with Pangea Reunited. Not interested in risking my career.

Now if I was like retired, or a farmer or something, maybe I would now and then to relax.

You want my feelings about marijuana? Personally I think it's safer than alcohol, but again I don't do either.

This just feels like a giant can of worms waiting to explode.

Personally, I agree with the others. It's not worth risking my job or license. However, I don't have a problem with it, I don't see it as any worse than alcohol or cigarettes, both which are legal.

I don't indulge in anything of the sort. But in theory, if I was going to, and I were in a legal state, I'd make sure I had a couple days off afterward to a- make sure it's completely out of my system and won't affect my work in the least. b- you can test positive for a few days after you use it. Even though it may be legal to use, you can't be under the influence working.

Nope! Not going to risk my license. I worked way too hard to do ruin it with something so trivial. If another nurse wants to indulge, and isn't under the influence while practicing that is up to them and I won't judge!

Just do a search for the recent posts about nurses who tested positive for weed and the anxiety they are having about potentially losing everything. If those posts don't keep you from using, then nothing will.

Personally, my license is too important to risk it, even if I lived in a state where it is legal. We all make choices that affect our future, so I choose to pass.

As it's illegal in most states (and I am in one of those states) nope, don't smoke it. It isn't worth losing my job over. And I do enjoy having an unencumbered license. Just not worth it.

I do admit to having the occasional craft beer or glass of champagne but never before work.

Plus, although it may be legal in some states, it still has not been federally legalized.

Wait, you mean seeing your name printed by the board of nursing telling everyone your license is revoked or suspended because you smoked weed doesn't sound like a good time to you??
