Is it weird not to wear a scrub top?

I recently talked with a resident friend of mine who rotates at different hospitals than the one I work. I recently met up with him before I had to go to work. I was wearing what I typically wear - scrub pants and a plain solid colored t-shirt. He thought it was so weird that I didn't wear scrub tops.

But now that I think about it, the majority of the nurses on my floor do wear nurse scrub tops ...

Is it unprofessional to wear solid colored t-shirts/ long sleeves?

I often wear solid, nice tees.

I have a humongous rear and small waist. If I put on a scrub top I look like a pear with feet.

My NM also wears tees.

Some wear T's in my facility with a matching scrub jacket and pants. We have official golf shirts embroidered, and in many colors to go with scrub pants-very short, look good on the young nurses. I wish I could wear. Otherwise, everyone wears scrubs-and for guys or girls-any tattoos you have to wear a jacket-no tats allowed.

I wear scrub pants, a matching Tee shirt- in the winter a long sleeve turtle neck, and a jacket. I do not have tatoos to hide, but I do feel very comfortable wearing cotton. Most scrubs are polyester...They're OK for pants...

that is my favorite outfit to wear!! I hate scrub tops, I feel confined in them. I do wear jackets in the winter sometimes but I prefer long sleeve tees in the winter. a top is a top what is the big deal?

I think it looks much more professional to wear a scrub top...also people just need to find ones that fit.

I've seen nurses wear tie-dye shirts are various tops and I think it looks bad.

All I remember is one of my instructors shared with us that when she was working rather than teaching , she stripped at the door, wouldn't even let her kids touch her. Why, cause it was her work clothes. If you are wearing a nice tee and use it for work so be it.

I think a nice tee looks a lot more professional than some of the prints we see out there! (Yes, I know this is like my 862, 354th complaint regarding cartoon prints. :lol2:) Overall, I think a nice tee looks good anyhow, if it fits well. I'd do this more, but I always freeze my behind off without my requisite 3 shirts.

When I worked in a hospital I always wore a t-shirt instead of a scrub top because I too felt confined. In fact, I almost never wear shirts made out of woven material even when I'm at home. To the person who thought they look unprofessional I can assure you that my very white, high quality (not undershirt quality), well-fitting (not tight) PRESSED shirt combined with PRESSED scrub pants looked way better than the scrubs my coworkers pulled straight from the dryer.
