I recently talked with a resident friend of mine who rotates at different hospitals than the one I work. I recently met up with him before I had to go to work. I was wearing what I typically wear - scrub pants and a plain solid colored t-shirt. He thought it was so weird that I didn't wear scrub tops.
But now that I think about it, the majority of the nurses on my floor do wear nurse scrub tops ...
Is it unprofessional to wear solid colored t-shirts/ long sleeves?
i don't know why i never thought of those.that's a brilliant idea, sue.
thank you, thank you, thank you.

You're welcome.
The other thng I do is channel my love of fabric into making my own tops. I picked up a simple pattern for a pullover blouse that has darts and is a bit fitted, with set-in sleeves (I hate Dolman) and that hits at the top of the hip bone. I add a couple of patch pockets et voila! A "scrub" top that doesn't look like a sack with a head hole in it.

i used to sew all the time.
scrub sets would be a cinch to make....and alter/customize.
or since i don't have any energy to sew, i can always add pockets to the sets i do have.
hmmmmm.

My hospital does allow hospital t-shirts, and I'm fine with that. I prefer a uniform top with pockets. The trouble with t-shirts, is they are not as durable as scrub tops, so unless you want to go around with a faded, bagged out shirt, pay attention when to it is time to retire a t-shirt.
