I need some encouragement please

  1. I'm having a negative moment. My recruiter (who also does the background checks for prospective employers) has gotten back three of the seven reference requests she sent out. So far they've been glowing. I know there's no reason to think I might not get this job but all of a sudden I'm really nervous. If I don't get it there is nothing else in this area I'm qualified for, because they all ask for advanced degrees or prior experience, and although there is an ER opening in the next county, I really don't want to go back to the ER if I can help it.

Somebody slap some sense into me, please!

think good postive throughts if someone is slow to respond give them a call it may be a procarstion thing, maybe someone new is working there that doesn't know you and maybe you can get in touch with old person who will write a glowing report that might tip the scales in your direction

    good luck

No, it's not the lack of responses, they've only just started coming back. It's more that things are finally starting to move and an "ohmyGodwhatifitdoesn'tworkandtheydon'twantmeandId on'tgetthejob"-type feeling.

    Relax.

    That's normal anticapatory anxiety.

Went through much the same after having to seek a new employer after 17 years.

I start next week, and in he back of my mind, "am I making the right choice, should I have looked longer, bargained harder?" "What if I don't work out?"

The last question popped up when I transferred into something new 3 1/2 years ago. It all went fine.

    You'll be fine

Seven reference requests??? Isn't that a bit excessive? I've never had to provide more than 3. But you really shouldn't worry. They don't bother checking references unless they are really serious about a candidate and so it is nerve-wracking but the chances are great that things will work about you.

Because of the reasons of how/why I left my last job, and because I have action against my license for chemical dependency (sober 13 years), they asked for more than the usual 3. She contacted all 7 on my list that I provided and said she'll be satisfied with 5 returns.

Sounds like she is interested in you.
    keep an open mind.

Everyone of your references is going to be wonderful!!! You are a great nurse that got boned by a facility that doesn't want to pay retirement.

I know that this is a tough time for you and the waiting is the worst. It's also going to be scary going into a new specialty.

You will be just fine. We all love you and they will too once they get to know you.
