Full Moon Friday the 13th

Published

My condolences to those who have to work this Friday night. I never used to believe in such nonsense, until I worked night shift for many years. Be sure to post your stories here too! :)

Specializes in Cardiac, ER.
When I realized yesterday that Friday is the 13th and a full moon I found our scheduler and told her I volunteer for call off if census is low. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Like that's gonna happen :)

Specializes in Med Surg.

Last time there was a full moon....it was pretty much the same crapshow it always is.

Specializes in Care Coordination, MDS, med-surg, Peds.

One Fri 13th, I was working and on call for that 24 hrs. I worked 12 hours, then stayed 4 more to fix scheduling/cover, had 3 falls, sent one to psych hospital and had an elopement. I had 4 CNA call offs, and one CMT called off. I told the DON at that facility that I would never ever ever EVER be on call on a Fri 13th!! ( I had traded at someone else's request, out of the goodness of my heart).

My mom always said that "No good deed goes unpunished'. I believed it THAT night!

This year, Fri will be my last day of employment at this facility and new job starts MONDAY

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

I'll only be working daylight hours that day :)

Specializes in Inpatient Oncology/Public Health.

Apparently our hospital is at capacity with 700 patients additional. I'm afraid.

Specializes in Med-Surg and Ambulatory Care (multispecialty).

I must be a glutton for punishment because I volunteered to pick up an extra shift this Friday the 13th - and I work nights.

Specializes in Operating Room.

For all you brave souls working, may the force be with you. :mask:

Specializes in Emergency Department; Neonatal ICU.

I will be there bright and early on Saturday morning. I'm taking consolation in that the full moon in my area is going to officially be very early Friday morning (I guess shortly after midnight) so maybe I'll be safe by Saturday morning ;)

working 7p-7a. So excited for friday the 13th and a full moon. everyday is entertaining and a life experience to talk about in the future. Great stories will develop on these wonderful nights.

Bonus! Tomorrow is a scheduled day off! And I am not on call this weekend! Yay me! ;)

Though, some of the stories from nights and full moons are still some of the most entertaining stories I have. Then again, in my current job, the crap hits the fan without much correlation to the full moon and/or Friday the 13th. So I have concluded there will just be stories and challenging days from most any day in my life.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Oncology, Epic CT.

Everyone run for the hills, the crazies are going to come out tomorrow night. OoOoOoo.:cheeky:

I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. It's always crazy with the full moon.
