:zzzzzIs this post for real? Are nursing students getting to be this silly these days? Ok, imma shut my mouth....
Well am SURE not one of them! I am unfortunatly "Multiple Choice Challenged" and my average went from a A to a C in Anatomy. I'm just happy to have made it through first semester (so far...2 more to go). I will pull it up in the second semester.
But yes...I hear you.
There are so many sadnesses and frustrations we are handed in life. This shouldn't be one of them...many students would be ecstatic with that final grade... and an A- is STILL an A. If it really bothers you, study more next semester, but don't obsess over this. If you really can't let it go and you're missing sleep etc., it may be time to see a counselor.
Oh but its worse than that! It goes A+ , A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C- all the way down to 50 which is a D. An F is below 50 but I'm sure that's universal except for the courses with the pre set passing mark of 65 % or 90%. If someone has bad grades in all their other courses, and they are relying on one mark to bring up their grade to a decent level and they don't acheive it, then i see why it would be heartbreaking to not achieve that, but an A on any level still means excellent.
Just curious...does it affect your grade point average in any way? I have never heard of college courses being graded that way, I always thought the grades you could get were, A - F, none of the A-, A+ etc.
The college I received my AS and AA degree from graded on the plus minus system and where an A is a 4.0 an A- is a 3.7... so you can see, if someone's concerned about their GPA in any way, an A- can be irritating.
I understand both sides of the issue. It seems silly but its true when you are that close to something you want it bad. Trust me, I've always been a B or C student, depending on whether I studied very much. But nursing school is a whole different ballgame, no choice but to study, and even if you study hard, you can still have a hard time!
I got a 92 or a 93, can't remember now!, for my final grade, which in our school is a B. So I missed the A that I got in the first semester, that at first got me thinking oh man I missed the mark by 1 point, but then I said, what the heck, I know what I'm doing, I did great in clinicals and my patients will be happy with who I am and how I treat them! So, don't worry about the final grade, just be happy you are doing so well and that you will provide great care for your patients! :):):):):balloons:
Sorry to hear you are so distraught over your A-. Thats really a great mark! I hope you find out sooner than later that your 0.5 of a mark difference does NOT make you any LESS a nurse. Good lord people. Any how, this is not to say I am not empathetic to your "loss" just hope you can see that there is more to Nursing than an A in school.
Good luck next semeseter! You will do great!
