Final grade disappointment... why can't I let it go???

FYI for EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD, it is illegal for a school to disclose your GPA without your WRITTEN PERMISSION. They are able to confirm you passed and you attended but all other info is covered under privacy act. So, if an employer does ask your GPA, good luck tryin to confirm it without your permission!

Some do not, but there are some that do. Trust me.

What about getting into Grad School? That is my motivation every time I start thinking "oh who cares what my grades are??" I know I am going to be applying to grad school soon and don't grades matter then?

I would think it would be pretty competitive to get into a masters program.. When my mom applied for a phd program in psych she did not get into the school she wanted to (a state school in california) and she had a 3.91 GPA AND really high GRE scores (high enough to get her into MENSA), she also had tons of experience.. I don't know.. that always scares me about applying for a masters program and keeps me on my toes..

I know "C's get degrees" but will they get you into a masters program?

Yes, good point and I can see that this would be the motivation for many who are so worried about getting those As. Now that I think about it there are several in my class who have indicated their goal is to be a NP and I know the graduate programs here are very competitive... which would mean that they would need to continually be keeping that in mind. Graduate school is not something I wish to rule out, but neither is it a make-or-break component of my future goals either... so I am not as grade obsessed as I was say during pre-reqs when I had to have those As to get to nursing school... Thanks for posting this perspective!

I miss getting A's, happy to get B's, and have realized that a perfect score does not automatically guarantee that I will be a good nurse. I still try hard to learn as much as possible, but the excitement of getting A's has been replaced with abilities to apply the information learned in class into a clinical setting with many options and different situations and to have nurses and patients giving me encouragement or a positive comment on the level of care that I have given. I have seen A students be incredible nurses and I have seen C student be incredible nurses. I personally want to be the nurse who can make best decision when there are not four multiple choice answers to choose from.

Although this is not my thread, I believe the original statement was concerning "personal achievement" and "personal satisfaction".

Well, the GOOD thing about getting a grade that you aren't happy with is that you'll bust your butt next semester. Keeps you from getting lazy. Good luck with your studies.

I had signed a consent before i graduated.
