For Fun--Kudos 2 Me...The "toot your own horn" thread

Hi, anyone want to brag a bit? After all, I think we deserve it.

I thought it would be fun to share some of our victories and things we think we should be patted on the back for.

Here's mine....I passed my first skills test this week and got a 100 on our first quiz in Fundamentals which I am soooo proud of because, as everyone knows, nursing tests are different than any other tests, you have to learn to think differently. You have to learn to think like a nurse, and WOOHOO, I DID IT!

Specializes in Dialysis.

I got my first IV... whoo hoo! (teacher helped, but STILL!)

Oooh, *jealous*

Final grades for Peds just posted. I finally got an A for a nursing class wooohoooo!!!! - I've made As on individual exams but always came up a bit short with pulling out an A for the course itself. I'm in 3rd semester and my school does not round so 1st semester I missed the A by 0.1!! Second semester by 0.5 - Finally hit the A mark for PEDS. Woooohooo! Interestingly, I thought this was the toughest course to date so I am really proud of myself right now!!

Specializes in Cardiac Critical Care.

Tooting my own horn... made 100% as my final grade in Dosage Calc this summer! Our instructor drops the lowest test grade, I think mine was an 88%... all the rest were 100s! Wooo!!

Specializes in Cardiac Critical Care.
Finished nursing school with a bang...4.0!!! I still can't believe it. Passed NCLEX a month after school ended and got hired at a magnet hospital, my dream hospital. :D I am still in orientation, but I get my first paycheck tomorrow...so excited!!!

Congrats, that is awesome!! I am hoping for a similar story in about a year and a half :)

Scored a level 3 on PEDS ATI, woot woot!

Thank you and good luck to you!!! You can do it!!!!

Getting A's and B's so far for first semester!! Gave flu shots yesterday at a local hospital, and Clinicals start in one week!!:redpinkhe

By the way did I mention I was married, two boys ( 2yrs old and 8 mos), and work at a nursing home!!!!! Kudos 2 me:yeah:

Specializes in Float Pool, acute care, management/leadership.

What a great thread! I just started my second year, but in retrospect I achieved so many personal milestones during my first year of nursing school.

As a post-bacc, I told myself that this time I would only focus on nursing school and not get involved in any extracurricular activities. Somehow, I end up running for student body president of undergraduates in the school of nursing and end up winning -I made a rap music video about nursing school with the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme" as my speech haha.

I also got awarded a tuition-reimbursement scholarship that is pretty much like a full ride and a guaranteed job after graduation (thank goodness, especially in this economy).

It's been a tremendous year and I'm just feeling super blessed for all the support from family and friends throughout my nursing endeavors.

I got my first ever attempts at starting IV's in 2 patients.. Both was good sticks!! Very proud of myself!! :)

Specializes in Psych, OB-GYN.

I was one of 7 A's on our last Adult I exam, and I took it with an horrific migraine, and narcs.

I emailed a prof some paper work that my hubby helped create to help clinicals be a little easier and she loved it and asked permission to distribute to rest of class. Then she followed by saying that I did exceptional on my exam.

I got the grade back for my first care plan and my clinical instructor had nothing to say other than it was awesome and she wanted to use as her sample :)

I never understood why life was taking the path that it did (LVN first) but now it's paying off, I know what the hell I'm doing and it feels good :) I don't seek attention, actually I prefer to stay under the radar most days, but it is nice to have a little "atta-girl" given. Especially in nursing school - it's so *&^% draining, emotionally and physically!!

(I'm in a BSN program, not transitional, so I started over from the very basics!!)

Specializes in Dialysis.

I had to 'report off' to my instructor today after reviewing and assessing 2 different patients. I rocked it. :) It's good to have report practice.
