I haven't seen any increased traffic. Strep has been passed around all year unfortunately. I recently made a poster to hang up - "is it a cold...or the flu" because everyone with a head cold thinks they are dying.
I put that sign up from day one. It's on my door. (Also: "Is it a cold or is it allergies?")
Every kid think they are dying and need to get home. I just shrug. If I sent home every kids for a cold, there would be no one in school.
My current bulletin board is "Cold vs Flu" the cold side is regular cute minion and the flu side is one of the crazy purple minions. Symptoms are listed on their respective sides, but everyone still thinks that they are dying. No flu yet. I read that the peak of flu season wasn't going to hit until February this year.
Not a whole lot of flu on my end... I had one student whose mother HATES for her to come to school and wants to be called to pick up whenever the child comes to see me. According to mom, the student has had the flu 3 times this season. That's one heck of a track record! She, of course, was full of it.
Most recently? "My mom says I have the flu." No fever, no chills. Nothing. I called mom (mostly to prove a point like, "okay lady you wanted to be called every time she came here, so I'm doing it") and guess what? She came to get the student! I said "Are you sure you want her to miss a day? She really has no symptoms and our policy doesn't say a student has to go home if they 'think they have the flu.' " But mom was insistent. The AP and I have been in talks about this all year, it's an ongoing issue with this mom. Sigh.
So, to answer you question, no real flu. Plenty of fake flu.

Does this student have an attendance issue?

How's it going with you guys?
Not to temp the Flu Gods, but so far so good.
Lots of mono, strep and "walking" pneumonia, however.
