What general discussion topic on allnurses do you get the most annoyed at?

For example: My pet-peeve is the "I hate working the floor. What cushy nursing jobs are there that do not require any real work?"

How would you like to respond to these topics?

For example: I would like to respond "Quit being lazy, put your time in, and develop into a stronger nurse before venturing out."

Without being specific enough to identify anyone, please contribute with your thoughts about topics that annoy you the most.

Please do not insult, demean, or disparage anyone. After all- at allnurses we are allfriends.

"you don't love your job?! OMG GET OUT NOW BEFORE YOU KILL SOMEONE!!!!!!!!"

or, "if you don't like your job then quit right this very minute so an unemployed new grad can have your job". first of all, new grads aren't qualified for my job. second, if i take your ever-practical suggestion to just walk off the job, are you going to pay my rent, utilities, internet, phone, gas in my car, groceries, car insurance, student loans, and vacations/travel? no? then maybe you should sit down.

Stop bullying me.

I'm new here, but not to nursing, and this thread is fantastic! Love it!

I get a lot of this in real life. Firstly from my sister in law, who is an esthetician. Several times she has asked or made comments about wether or not I am "a real nurse". I have an associates degree, apparently that means I'm just playing at being a nurse. And her husband said I must not be when they were discussing me, because I only went to school 2 years. Oh it takes a lot of effort to be nice to her when she pulls this nonsense. Anytime something medical is discussed I generally refrain from participating in the discussion unless asked directly for my opinion. We once had a discussion about concussions, she didn't believe what I said when she asked my opinion, so that night she emailed me a link to "go ask" confirming her own opinion. Ugg.

Thats is not even the worse of it. Another sister in law finished nursing school a year and a half ago. She was exactly that nursing student who knew it all. The one you talk about in this thread. How I have not told her off in the last year is a mystery to me. While she spent nearly a year attempting to pass nclex she continuously told me how much more difficult it was now, and that it was sooooooo much easier when I took it more than a decade ago and that's why I remember it being so easy and passing on my first try. I have learned that I literally just walk away when she wants to discuss something nursing related.

Thanks for for the Laughs!

If you really want to laugh, search for the ridiculous reasons to visit the ER thread. Just try not to be drinking anything.

There was also a thread quite a while ago about red jello that got really out of hand. As in, the mods shut it down. ;) Happy reading!

You should ask how long it took her to get her PhD in cosmetology. OMG you just have a license? Are you sure you're a REAL waxer/facial-doer?

"I tried the Pearson Vue Trick and it took my payment, so I must have FAILED! But the money they took is for my BILLS and I really need it back, so I am going to call my bank and file a stop payment tomorrow!"

Seen a couple of variations on this one lately and honestly...... the saying "too stupid to live" comes to mind. :cautious:
