What did u buy your first year of nursing?

Nurses New Nurse

Published

I will be graduating from nursing school in May, and is just curious about what type of things do new graduates do when they become a nurse. My plans is to invest in a house and maybe a new car. I have a 10-year old son and he is really looking forward to this. Do you think this is possible with the income new grads will start off making?

Buy the way, in my state (MI) most hospitals start btw 22-24 dollars an hour.

Just curious, RN in 07' :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:

Well, I suppose I could lend a bit, how does %7 sound?:clown:

But no way are you borrowing my car!!!

Dude, I was gonna use your car for collateral! (snicker...)

I bought a Mustang, too. 1968 convertible. Only sl used (a repo). I had that car for 12 years.

Oh my, that Mustang is amazing in my eyes. I appreciate all the replies and feel like my head is in the right direction. I do plan on investing in buying a house before I buy a new car and then maybe, if I can afford I may go ahead and buy that Cadillac CTS 07 that I always wanted. Thanks alot:roll

Guess I'm in on this Nurse/Mustang thing, too!!! But, I don't have mine yet, so I'll have to drool over yours! I picked up a brochure at the local Ford dealer & carried it in my book bag during school! I figured I'd pay the bills I gained from going to school first then invest in the 'Tang! Waiting makes the reward that much sweeter :D !

i moved from one rental (with roomate) to another with my first check. which means i put down first and last months on the new place and was current on the old place when i left. ideally, i would have waited a couple of months and had a good lump sum when i left, but it wasn't an option. so now, i'm pretty much paycheck to paycheck and not making any major purchases. but, i'm paying of bills that have been haunting me for a long time. plus, i way overextended myself and christmas, and that started my year off on the wrong foot...

I do have fond memories of that Mustang! "Jason" (yes, I named the car!!) had a sticky choke, fortunately, the first time it did it, the mechanic taught me how to prop it open and restart the car. (Very impressive to a few of my dates to see me jump out of the car, open the hood, etc.)

The back window of the convertible top was in two pieces and had a seam in it, which broke after I left a book in the storage well, then put the top down. When it rained, water got in there, and stayed for a long time. When I went around a corned, we joked about my fish tank! And after a few years, the front leaked where the convertible hooked onto the windshield. I had to drive w/towels over the steering wheel!

May all you new grads have as much fun w/your new (and well-earned) rewards (aka, pay checks) as I did w/mine!!

I just bought a plot of land in a subdivision. We won't be building a home on it for a year or two until I'm a little more comfortable in my new role and able to focus more on my outside life. I would also like to get a chunk of money saved for a good down payment. I know it will probably send me into a minor financial woe but I've been dreaming about this moment for a long time.

Ah yes, "creative visualization" -

Regarding your countdown, is that "one year as a nurse"? or something else? Just curious

OMG! I love this car! I already own a 2001 Mustang Convertible that is currently sitting in my garage because I don't drive her in the winter. I am planning on getting a new Mustang when I graduate in 2009 and give the 01 to my son when he gets 16. I eventually want to get one just like this one to pull out only on those "special sunny days".
