FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

whelp another day, the postal person has came and gone and left nothing but bills. No letter!!! I guess I'll hope for tomorrow:banghead:

dang...you get your mail early!!! So we already know who is gonna be the first one to post acceptance letters...LOL :yeah:

that makes a whole lot of sense, because it was very generic, with no points stated, dang that means she still has a chance for fall semester!! I guess thats what I get for being mean!

My mail already came today and no letter. I guess this was not our week. Okay so I can't take this anymore:banghead:. If I don't get a letter on Monday........

I know, the wait is so frustrating! My friend just graduated from FCCJ nursing and is having trouble finding a job. I've looked on all the hospital sites and it seems to be a catch 22. No job unless you have experience, no experience without a job. Especially if you don't have a lot of leeway with your schedule (like kids or something). I feel like an idiot sometimes, checking all the job postings when I don't even know if I'm accepted yet! I just want to get started so I can finish! Hopefully Monday will be the day!

i really wish the best for your friend. that is something that scares me sometimes. i don't have ANY work experience period, and i'm 26yo!!

i would love to go to school for pharmacy...but, i'd been in school another 5 years. i only have half of my pre-reqs finished.

I am sure something will come up for ur friend. You have to be persistent when looking for any job. Also just remember things could be different for you. I know a lot of people who get in good with hospitals while in school and have jobs waiting for them when they graduate.

I hope monday is the day too!!!

Ladies, Faith is our friend! I would like to let you know that experiece is not for sale, but we develop success from faliure. so as future nurses that we all be, we have to be positive, and strong.

I would not worry about the whole "experience" job requirement for nursing. Once we finsh our first semester get a job as a nursing assistant, then you will have experience and have no problem getting a job. I plan on doing just that. You have to realize that we also have alot of hopital and health facilities in our area. Put your name out there, volunteer, and get connected. One of the biggest things in any job situation is NOT what you know, but WHO you know. This is a major thing I found out when I applied to the position I have now at Wolfson's. Another girl and myself applied to the position (what I was told) and I got it because (1) I knew someone that worked there and (2) I was very personable with the employee's. Its crazy that I got it because of that, but I was very grateful nonetheless. Anyways lets not concern ourselves with this now. We have NURSING SCHOOL to think about..lol. Thats quite enough.

Go to Chamblin's if you are tight on money..I went there on Thursday, and unless the books change, I found all of the books I needed for this semester...if they are used they are half off, if they are new they are 30% off...=)

Yes, a good idea not to get ahead of ourselves. I couldn't do a nursing assistant position because of my kids but you're right not to worry about it. What position do you have at Wolfson's?

Thats understandable. I commend you. Being a mom is more than a full time job. I work as a Technical Imaging Assistant in Peds Radiology. I love it. It has its days, as does anything else, but its great.
