FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

molse001 I have been trying to get my foot in the door at wolfson's. I really want to works in peds so I have been trying to get a job there doing anything. Do you know of any open positions? You can email me if you would like [email protected] Any ideas you have I would love to hear.

Hey girl!! I honestly have no idea what position openings they have right now. If you would like to search their site for jobs go to www.e-baptisthealth.com. Then click on the employment tab on the left. If you have any questions let me know. Good Luck!!!:D

Yeah..I actually spoke with someone tonight I had a class with way back. She applied for the fall term and got a denial letter immediately. I assume if we've made it this far without getting anything then we have a good chance of getting in. I feel sooo bad for the girl I saw tonight though.

I didn't get one of those BSN letters either. Which is probably a good thing considering that I would have had a heart attack thinking that it was a denial letter.

I want to go into L & D too!!! It is the main reason from me going into nursing. I hope I can go straight into L & D right after school ( A very hard task) I hear that it is one of the hardest specialty to get in without any experience. Oh well couldn't hurt to try!! Getting to know the right people will be a big help too:bdyhdclp:

Hi Molse001, yeah, there are a lot of people with the same childcare issues. I need to keep in mind that if this is God's will for me, it will work out (can I say that here??). Anyway, I used to want to work in L & D but now I'm thinking more OR, med/surg, oncology. We'll see. I thought about working in an urgent care for a year or two to get some experience right out of school. Thanks for the childcare tip. I'll keep it in mind. My mail doesn't come until around 3 so I'm hoping to find someone's announcement on here earlier so I can expect it. That's good news about the denial letters being out. Sorry about the friend, though. That's tough.

Depends on where you want to work. I have been told it isn't that hard to get into L& D at Shands or the Naval hospital which is where I want to work, since my hubby is Navy and it is a GS job. I also have a few friends at the Naval hosptial so I am hoping that works to my advantage.

I believe God will work things out for you as well. If it weren't for Him, it would be very difficult to get through this. Yeah, I checked FCCJ's site for info on their BSN program and you need to get experience in certain area's to get into their program. I guess I could get something in the emergency room or recovery room (atleast 2,000 hours worth..lol). It wouldn't hurt to have that experience. My mail doesn't come until the afternoon either, so we're in the same boat. Hopfully we will get those letters today!!!

Thanks for the encouragement. This journey (even this far) has been one of trust that God has in mind even the smallest details of our lives. I didn't realize that there were experience requirements for the BSN program, which I hope to complete someday. Good to know. It seems like time in Critical Care or ER or med/surg would be invaluble for future positions as well. Hope to meet everyone soon!

If you want to get into L&D without experience, try Memorial. I asked the RN who assisted with my delivery (#4) and she had only been out of school maybe a year or two and her first job was L&D and she said they hired her with no experience and they train. :twocents:. L&D happens to excite me...maybe I watch too much Discovery Health Channel, or maybe I've just had too many kids...idk...lol

It better be!!! Cuz I'm gonna need some freekin Xanax after this is over!:banghead:

Ok, another day, the mail lady has dropped off nothing but bills again today. The wait is almost unbearable

I've been following this thread and I'm as excited as all of you are who applied for Fall term. I started Summer term in May and am just starting clinical rotations. I can't wait to congratulate you all! If you have any questions feel free to send a pm. I'm in the Night/Weekend track.

I've never liked Mondays!!! No letter, yet again... GRRR!!!
