Navy Nurse being stationed on other branches' bases?
my husband and I are both active navy he is enlisted and I go to ODS in 2 weeks. my husband was able to change jobs but we were supposed to go to Hawaii and my detailer was wiling to send me to Tripler because I'm an experienced RN. my husband wanted to go to flying fire scouts and so we are going to San Diego because my detailer went over to his detailer and out ranked him and told him to send my husband to San Diego. lol so it can be done that you can be stationed at another branch hospital but not until you have experience.

Navy Nurse Corps Direct Accession FY 2013
My recruiters assistant told my husband yesterday that they took 27 from the first board and they have 36 spots total... So frustrating since I made sure all my stuff was to my recruiter on time and it didn't make it there until September. The assistant seemed very confidant that mine would be in the next board. I guess it is more hurry up and wait, the joys of the military!!

Navy Nurse Corps Direct Accession FY 2013
According to my recruiter the number of D.A. in the board in October was 30 and they want 34 for FY13. So depending on how many they take there should be at least 4 more spots for the board on 11/30. Has anyone heard from the first board yet?

My recruiter said it will be the next 65 reviewed on nov 30 but she had no idea where I was in that pile. She did say of the 65 they looked at last Friday 30 were DA.

She said my packet was with the program manager still and that it would go to the next board. This has been a long road and I just hate rejection so I guess that is why I'm getting so frustrated.

Navy Nurse Corps Direct Accession FY 2013
The list came out today and I'm not on it for this board they do not know when the next board will be. My recruiter seems to think it will be about 2 weeks after this one. I'm getting so discouraged.

I too have my package in, I had a bad recruiter last year so I missed my chance to get my stuff in in time last year so I have been working on this since February of 2011 It is all in and I am hoping to be considered in the first board. My resume is med/surg and now I am a Cardiac progressive RN. I am just so nervous last year there was 96 applicants 34 accepted and 14 wait listed. So fingers crossed and I hope you guys get in too!:heartbeat

FCCJ Fall 2008
I just don't have childcare. The nights and weekends wouldn't bother me if I had realible childcare for it. It is hard to pawn off 4 kids! lol She is much better now that the penicillin is working. Crazy my 4 year old had strep over a month ago and now she got it, I am just wondering when my turn will be. haha My two year old also came down with impatigo and my 7 year old and I are having troubles with our asthma. It never ends I swear.

FCCJ Fall 2008
I just wish I knew what I got. My daughter called me at 1215 and said she had a fever and her throat was killing her (seriously the child has slept since 1 pm yesterday only getting up to eat a few bites when I woke her up). Well I was supposed to take my HESI at 1 so I went to find Ms B to tell her that I had to go take care of my sick kid and she seriously got a psycho about me not having anyone else to get my sick kid. Sorry my hubby is on deployment and my brother works out of town during the week and I have the other 2 people on her emergency card were at work. GRR either way they had me leave the sections I wanted and said they would draw a number for me. I dunno, I guess I will get whatever is left over. I just cannot do the night and/or weekend section. Thanks for 'listening' to me vent...

FCCJ Spring 2009
They *try* and not have Shands for term one (I guess it scares people, lol) For our term one options it was Baptist DT or Nassau, Memorial, or Orange Park. For term two we have Baptist Beaches and Shands added to that for options. If you get Friday clinicals then you will have one less clinical day then everyone since you will get Good Friday off and you do not have to make that up! Hopefully they do away with this hybrid crap, since Concepts and Pharm are both hybrid and a lot of my classmates are suffering with the lack of class time. It is a lot of information that you need to know and teaching it to yourself makes it harder. Pretty much the run down for days will be testing on Mondays3-515 (when you have 2 tests which only happens a few times so for the most part 3-4). Then Concepts, Health Assessment, and Pharm are broken down into 2 days, so one day with 2 of the classes and the other a 'half-day'. Then Techniques is from 7-3pm and for the first 7 weeks you go to class and learn how to do patient care and have simulation tests. Then you will go to the hospital for your clinicals, trust me you are so sick of being on campus it is a fun transition. Nights and weekends have a different schedule testing later and do their clinicals on Sat/Sun I am enjoying it, just remember to laugh and try to not stress about it. If I can get through this with 4 kids and my hubby deployed anyone can do this!

FCCJ Spring 2009
Hey I am a term one right now. Your lab coat should be fine as a med, their sizing is retarded. You do not need any of your Meridy stuff until week 8 so you have time to return but they take FOREVER to get it to you and if you have to return expect another month long wait. You can go and see if their are any used uniforms. I cannot remember who is in charge of that but they do have gently used uniforms that previous students 'donate'. If nothing else you can try on the uniforms to make sure you ordered the right size. I am sure the nursing office will know who to refer you to. The lottery thing is done at the second orientation and literally they have you line up and as you walk thru the door you pick a number out of a bowl and that is how you get to pick your schedule. Everyone who had high numbers ended up at Baptist Nassau for clinicals. Congrats and enjoy some free time before the stress of it all comes in January!
