Is it true that if you fail out of a nursing program you're black listed from all other ? I'm a Lpn student and I just failed one of my classes by .45. Pretty much a half point. I wanted to transfer out but they told me that CUNY doesn't accept anyone who has failed out and trying to transfer somewhere else. What should I do ???

You can't appeal to be readmitted to your current program?

Call the nursing department of any school that interests you and ask straight up. I would imagine that you could arrange an appointment to talk to nursing department personnel to go over your transcripts and discuss your situation.
I'm going to try. I'm going to start to look around for other programs to see where I could get into. I've been told that they don't straight up tell you that your black listed but when you present your transcript where they could see, that's when they tell you no
I could re-admit but I have to wait a full year before I could do anything.

Look at it from the schools' point of view -- it's not so much a formal "blacklisting" as it is schools who are swamped with highly qualified applicants who haven't failed out of a nursing program not seeing much point in offering a seat to someone who has just failed out of a nursing program. I don't mean to sound harsh, but that's what it boils down to. However, I would encourage you to keep looking (or waiting to get back into your current program), and I hope things will work out for you. Best wishes!

Also, you did not fail "by half a point". The final grade is a percentage for the entire course. As former faculty, some schools will not take failures from other programs. Also with the competition being fierce and 3.5 and above being what is needed to get into many programs, even if minimum GPA is 3.0, schools will take those that are more likely to succeed. Keep in mind, that schools have to keep NCLEX pass rates high in order to stay open, schools that have NCLEX pass rates less than 80% will be closed by BON. And to get high NCLEX pass rates, schools select those will graduate on time & pass NCLEX first time.
Thanks. I have some serious thinking now. I'm feeling this is really the end of my dreams if that's the case. Being that I can't afford private schools.

You are not necessarily done, but you for sure are slowed down. If you are committed to this and willing to put in the hard work involved the worst case scenario is you are out for one year until you can re-enter the program where you left off.
I had three fellow students in that situation in my graduating class. One of them excelled as she had studied on her own during the year off to keep what she had learned the previous year reasonably fresh. The other two were not as proactive and failed out again, which meant that they were dropped from the program entirely. It isn't easy to miss a year, but it is not impossible.

Can you appeal the termination in hopes of getting back in next semester. Many schools allow you to take a class twice. However, I don't know of any that allow 3x so learn better study habits. I wouldn't give up already, but just know you might have some hard work ahead of you. Let us know how it goes.
