Oops, sorry, that was to the person who posted something about hypnosis. I was just wondering what they thought of it, and when they did it.

just remember your ABCs, AD(O)PIE, and Maslow's hierarchy.

Toni,

What is the O for in ADPIE?

Thanks,

In school, we were taught both ADPIE and ADOPIE, but mostly ADPIE, since that's the universal thing used. The O stands for Outcome Identification. According to the ANA Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice, the definition is as follows: "The Nurse identifies expected outcomes individualized to the patient."

I got this info from my Fundamentals of Nursing Textbook (Kozier & Erb).

Hope this helps.

Thank you, Toni!

No problem!! :)

Melissa, sorry about your not passing this time. As you can see, you are not alone. Think of what you have accomplished...you finished nursing school! That's a big accomplishment when you think of the attrition rate. Just keep trying, you'll get it.

I have tutored two students who failed the NCLEX three times each. (They passed the fourth time.) In each case, I found that there were some practical things they could do. They were both well prepared, but weren't passing. So here's my advice: Go to the test site the night before, even if you have to rent an expensive hotel room. Don't wrestle with traffic the morning of the test. Try not to work the day before the test. Study only lightly the night before the test, better to watch a funny movie or read a relaxing book (romance or mystery). Treat yourself well! Stay away from people who are putting pressure on you. When you take the test, sometimes it helps to think of what you would REALLY DO in the patient situation, and not try to pick the answer that "sounds like it has to be right". You might also imagine the voice of a teacher you trust explaining why each answer is or is not correct. Good luck!

i'm in michigan also and this is the information i found from bon website. how come in the state of ohio, one can take nclex test indefinitely? not fair~~~~.

how many times can i take the nclex? you must complete the nclex within 12 months of your first attempt at the test. if you fail the test, you will have to wait for 45 days before you can retake the test. you will typically be able to test up to 3 times per year. if you fail the test 3 times, you will have to complete an educational program that is acceptable to the board before you are approved to take the test up to 3 times more. you will have a total of 6 attempts at the test.
