  1. I got called for an interview at OU today...... a little worried about the "quiz" to take beforehand.....anyone have any insight?
  2. Yuck, I have no idea what to do about my personal/goal statement. I have a rough draft where I start out describing a conscious sedation procedure and how I had to monitor the patient and that's how my interest arose. But does that sound dumb? Should I just make it short and to the point? I want to make mine intersting but I'm having a hard time putting it all together. Anyone have any advice?
  3. Has anyone applied to school along w/ one of your fellow coworkers? How was it? Two other nurses from my unit are applying to the same schools this fall. It makes me nervous! I can't stop comparing myself to the others. If I don't get accepted this year, I know I can apply next year but the fact that I would have to see them freaks me out.....has anyone been in this situation?
  4. I am nervous about asking my manager for a letter of rec. She is barely out on the floor and it seems that the last time someone applied to CRNA school was 2 1/2 years ago before she was manager. I'm not sure how she would take the news, RN's have been on my unit FOREVER and I'm afraid she'll think I'm some cocky newbie ( I've been on the unit for 6 months) Anyone have any thoughts on how to approach her?
  5. :balloons: As of today, I am officially an RN! This was my third attempt at this freakin test! I want to thank everyone on this site for all thier positive support! I'm so happy I don't know what else to say !!!!!!!! ~ melissa :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:
  6. I am attempting to take the NCLEX this Wednesday for the third time. I was wondering if everyone could keep me in their thoughts and prayers. I want to pass more than anything. The biggest issue I am having is anxiety. I am so sick of studying I feel like I know everything that is nursing!! I am hoping my positive attitude will help me this time. Everyone on this message board is full of incredible advice and positive encouragement! I can use whatever I can get! Thanks! ~ Melissa
  7. I want to see it b/c I would really like to look at the areas that said I was "below passing". One of the areas was pharmacology which of course includes the med math questions. I thought those were super easy...but since I was "below passing" what if they were wrong? The other 2 drug questions I had were about pancrealipase and I'm pretty sure I got those right too...so I want to see what's up. Also.....why wouldn't I. I think it will help to see if I truly didn't know they answers or if it was my anxiety level. When I took the Kaplan review course I was the only one who was in the passing range for the readiness and I also got in the 70's on all of the CD tests. I really want to analyze my test taking with this exam b/c I have never had an issue w/ school or tests before.
  8. I called the Michigan State Board of Nursing today and they told me I can see my test..for $400.!! What should I do?? How much money do I have to spend to get my freakin license. I am so frustrated, but I feel like seeing what I got wrong would help. What would you do...........
  9. I was just reading the pamphlet they give you before you take your exam. You know the red one from NCSBN. It says in the back that if you fail, some boards of nursing allow you to view your exam to see the questions you got wrong. I am unable to contact Michigan's board of nursing d/t the holiday.....has anyone out there done this? ~ Melissa
  10. I used the Mosby CAT but I found that the questions weren't similar. I took it a few times and did well on it. I also did well (or in the "passing range") on my Kaplan test. I'm so annoyed!!!!! This time I'm still going to study but I'm going to try and relax too. It's hard not to be nervous because so much rides on this test! ~ Melissa
  11. Pie, You and are are sort of in the same boat. I failed twice as well and I am not sure what to do. I took Kaplan and I felt that it was very beneficial. I feel like the questions were sort of similar to the NCLEX. It seems like all the other review books are too easy, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I don't know how I feel about antianxiety meds, I don't want to mess with my head you know? I'm at a loss too,....I just don't know what to do. Let me know if you have any advice! ~ Melissa
  12. Good advice, thanks! ~ Melissa
  13. I never tried hypnosis....has anyone out there tried it though? I would consider it. ~ m
  14. I meant that I failed it twice, not 3 times, i'm just very upset and my mind isn't there. I want to know if anyone else has been in my boat..........I just don't know what to do. ~ m
  15. I took it for the first time in November, in MI you only have to wait 45 days, so I took it again for the 2nd time on Tuesday and failed. I hope that clarifies . ~ Melissa
