I used Meds, Inc. NCLEX PN-Gold for my LPN boards and passed at 85 questions the first time.
Then I used the RN version for my RN boards and passed with 75 questions the first time.
I thought it was an easy user-friendly CD-ROM to use and very much simulated the actual NCLEX exam.
Also, I've seen comments posted here about Suzanne4 helping people who are having trouble with passing boards. Ask her.
And keep your chin up. I've worked with a number of nurses who failed it several times over (3-4 plus times) before finally passing. They are excellent nurses today.
I'm feeling pretty low right now. I just got my nclex-pn results yesterday, waiting for 4 agonizing weeks and you know what........ I failed:o . I was surprised because I felt really good about the exam, I really thought I passed this time. This was my second time taking the exam and I just feel so angry that I have to take it again. I feel like I don't have any more confidence in myself. For those of you who have taken your nclex-pn....... can you tell me what books you used to study? I have saunders and I went to a review(which didn't help me much). I just really want to get on the right path. Maybe I'm studying the wrong material. Please help!
I'm so sorry to read about your bad news. I too didn't pass the first time and was so discouraged to retake the test that a waited for a whole year (which was the dumbest thing I've ever done).:trout: :chair: My mistake the first time was letting the importance of the test overwhelm me. I went with a friend to test at the same time, and well she finished right away. After a break I went back to continue the torture and just gave up half ways through and started guessing. I knew I didn't pass, I cried all the way home. Well I took a review class which I think is what helped me to pass the next time. I felt so great during the test that when the computer shut off at 112 I knew I past that time. All I can say to you is DON'T GIVE UP!!! Take your time, you have five hours right? So use them, you know the information just take your time and keep us posted. You'll see, soon you'll come back announcing:balloons: "I PASSED"!!!:balloons: It will happen..... be confident!!!
Thanks for all the support=). I actually just bought the Kaplan book and started reading it. Seems like a good book, hopefully this one will help. I'm also going to take my CNA test cuz I really need a job right now and plus.... it will look good on my resume too. When I take my LVN exam again, I will keep you guys posted. Hopefully 3rd's gonna be a charm. Bye!
1. Don't give up
2. Pray and don't stop praying (before, during, and after exam)- I prayed 3 times during my exam cuz I was getting nervous
3. KAPLAN
4. KAPLAN
5. DO NOT allow test anxiety to take over while taking the exam, I took it for the 2nd time and almost collaspe with every click I ended up with 205 questions
6. Don not pay attention to the number of questions rumors (even- passed, odd- failed, 205- failed, 85- passed)
7. CONFIDENCE
8. PRAY
9. KAPLAN's online Q-bank go to kaptest.com
10. PRAY!!!!
Notice my key points: Pray and Kaplan..I used Saunders the first time and didn't pass but the second time I used Saunders and mainly Kaplan's book and paid for the Qbank online and passed
P.S. If you don't believe in yourself- who will? This is just the beginning sweety you have RN school to continue to so suck it up and it will all be worth it in the end TRUST me
I believe in a book called Fryes 3000 Nursing Bullets PN edition. This book is a handy little book that gives 3000 tidbits about different things in nursing. I read it cover to cover several times before taking my nclex-pn and passed first try with 85. I just highlighted the bullets that I was not familiar with and each time I read it I highlighted in a differnt color until I was familiar with the complete book.
