Hey everyone. I have a question. There is a nurse that I know of who takes exotic photos, has an OnlyFans account, "models" in music videos & doesn't mind posing near naked in sexually suggestive positions on social media sites. (She doesn't hide ANYTHING!) That's her life BUT my question is: Can a healthcare employer fire someone for what they do outside of their career as a nurse??? I know we are pillars in the community & are held to a high standard but I want to know, technically, is this woman in the wrong & would or could her job or license be on the line........Thanks in advance for the feedback given! ?

I wouldn't say it's ethical to fire someone for what they do outside of work as long as they're doing their job good enough when they're at work, but there's nothing that says that they can't do it.

As for her license, she can't lose it for the pictures and videos she puts on the page. BUT, it's an income. If she gets audited, gets a tax bill that she doesn't pay, then spends a month in jail, then she can lose her license

If she makes income on line she automatically receives a 1099? Either way, that would be her choice and responsibility and risk she is taking.

Yep. THat's what they tell us. And the held to a higher standard part is definitely true. Why are you worried about "someone?" Unless the someone is you....

If it's legal then who cares? What she does in her personal time and off the clock is no one's business if there is nothing illegal about it.

Some time ago I posted a list of actions that constitute "Acts of Moral Turpitude."

It's a lengthy list but getting partially or complete naked for an audience (virtual of live) is not one of them. So I doubt this person would lose their license over this. She could however be fired by her employer especially if she is in an "at will" state.

I would like to ask what is your interest in this person's personal life. Her actions do not effect you in any way. I always find it's best to my side of the street clean and mind my own business.

I think she is hurting somebody....herself. Exhibitionism is never a joy for the person doing it. If she has such bad judgement about putting her genitals online, I woud counsel her for the sheer stupidity of it and the threat to her career. What's the difference between her and Anthony Wiener? Here's a guy that was a well-liked politician in NYC and now? Do you really think he should have been declared good to go just because he didn't kill anyone? The guy has a mental problem which interfered with normal thinking patterns.

Do you see any differences between making a legal wage in an industry largely in existence to meet the needs of a subset of America and texting, tweeting or otherwise publishing unwelcome images of your genitals to women?

This seems like an attempt to smear her with his crap. Please clarify.

I’m going to give her the credit to know what she likes and wants for herself without being weirdly moralistic and unable to recognize that Weiner’s case is different due to lack of consent involved.

She's not wrong and this is not an ethical issue.

Whether an employer can fire her for it, probably. Even if they make up some baloney reason.
