Has anyone received notice of an epipen recall? I saw on TV on the Sunday night news that there was a recall for malfunction of the pen. I googled it and there are several lot numbers affected.

I was amazed that we didn't receive emails from Mylan. We participate in their epi-pens for schools program and you would assume they would have done that.

Same.
I actually had a mom email me this morning asking me to check the lot# on her son's Epi-pens for here at school. Which in turn prompted me to Google the Epi-pen recall, thinking it was the same one from a few weeks ago that affected Epi-pens in Australia. It is not the same recall. This is a different recall that affects Epi-pens sold in the US, but not any of the ones in my office thank goodness.

Mind you, these are the extremely overpriced pens.
Guess you don't always get what you pay for...

Also, if you have Phillips Healtcare HeartStart MRx Monitor/Defibrillators in the school, they are recalled as well.
FDA has classified it as a Class 1 recall.

I would have expected a call from Mylan as well. The only reason I found out is because my husband is an allergist. Thankfully none of the pens here at school are part of the recall.

Thank you for posting! I hadn't seen anything about this yet.
I just went through my students' stash and had one with a Lot # included on the list.

I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience this will cause people but there's a part of me snickering and saying "it couldn't have happened to a nicer company".

The press announcement from the FDA is actually pretty easy to read:
FDA alerts consumers of nationwide voluntary recall of EpiPen and EpiPen Jr
It listed the expiration dates of Epipen affected as well, which is easier, I think, for me to start pulling ones that may be affected. One of students with severe allergies and I were chatting this morning about her Epipens at home and how to check; her current Epipen in my office is thankfully not affected.
I have 4 epipens on the list. I spoke with the principal and we are sending out an email to all parents about the recall since we are a high school and a lot of kids carry their own.
ya
Good idea.

Our lead district nurse notified us a couple of weeks ago but then a mom notified us on Sunday night when more lot numbers were added. We have maybe half a dozen EpiPens that were part of the recall.
