Hi guys I took english 201 during the spring semester and half way throught the spring semester i spoke to my professor about where i was academically in the class because i was thinking about dropping the class and she (the professor) told me that i was doing good and that i shouldnt drop the class so i asked her professor i need to know specificly where i am grade wise in this class am I an A,B or C student she said your a B student and when you take the midterm and final that will bump up your grade so i took the mid term got a B on it and my final was a 5 page research project so i changed my topic a few times and got a little anxiety attack and didnt show up for my final so today i recieve an email of my final grades for the classes i took this spring semester and HER FINAL GRADE FOR ME WAS A BIG FAT C if i was a b student through out the whole semester why the hell would she give me a C by school policy she is supposed to give me and incomplete or an F why would she give me a C I feel like she didnt give me an F or an incomplete or absent for final on purpose so that i couldnt take the class over next semester just be stuck with a losey C what do you guys think?

Perhaps I am not understanding your post. However, if you skipped the final I am surprised you ended up with a grade as good as a C. I think that was more than fair of your prof.

Ditto. I'm amazed you ended up with a C. If it were me, I'd take it and be grateful.

Yep agreed. You were so concerned about your grade, she tried to help you and because you failed to show up, or complete the 5 page research paper ..she did more than her fair share by giving you a C. Just take it as a lesson learned, it is in no way her fault. She can only help you as much as you can help yourself. Good luck.

I don't understand what you meant by this. Even with a C you can retake the class. You can retake any class you want as long as you pay for it.

I think you should look at your reasoning behind skipping a final for a class you already had a B in. Are you sure you want to be in school right now? Are you sure you can handle it right now?

I agree with a previous poster that teacher was being nice by giving you a C.

my final was a 5 page research project so i changed my topic a few times and got a little anxiety attack and didnt show up for my final so today i recieve an email of my final grades for the classes i took this spring semester and her final grade for me was a big fat c

per your post above, it's your lack of action--- not showing up at final ---that caused you to receive the grade you received. part of becoming an adult is taking responsiblity for your actions, especially important when expecting to become a licensed professional.

I think the OP meant that they could not grade replace a C.

To the OP, were you in communication with the professor at all? It has been my experience that they can really work with people if they are honest with them. But with no communication from you, the prof really had nothing to go on and was quite generous to give you the C. As far as the prof is concerned, a student who does things like not show up for a final would be happy with a C.

It sounds to me like even though you didn't turn in your final paper that your grade was high enough(A or B) without it to still receive the "C" without the points for your final.

Is this how you wrote your papers for English class?

I can't think of a single professor in all my college years who would have given out a "C" if the student didn't show up for the final. It would have been an "F" UNLESS the student contacted the prof in advance, asked for an Incomplete, and made arrangements to complete the work pronto.

Agreed. In both of the English classes that I just completed, missing any single exam was an automatic F for the course, regardless of overall grade.
