End of the semester laziness

Published

Does anyone else get this? In spring semester the last 3-4 weeks were so beautiful and sunny and warm and it took all my strength not to ditch and go to class, I was so ready to be done.

Well now I have 4 weeks left (really only 3 because we have the whole week of thanksgiving off) and it's not sunny and warm, in fact it's snowy and cold but again I find myself slacking off and losing my motivation, I know we are so close to being done and I will be happy I made it through my first semester of nursing school and ironically I plan on studying med surge over my winter break but it's like at the end of the semesters I just feel lazy and don't want to study or go to class or put forth any effort anymore. Does anyone else start feeling that way towards the end of their semesters or quarters?

This happens to me every semester as well...usually after Thanksgiving though so I haven't been hit yet. This is my first semester of nursing school, and I'm really really praying that I remain motivated and stick to my study plans until the final exam. Usually in prereqs, my grades are so high, that even if I get a C on the final, I still make out with an A. Not so in nursing school. In one of my classes, I'm at a 90.5% right now! So I need to keep at it! I need to study right now, in fact!

Yeah I should probably study right now too lol

I didn't do this so much in the prereqs, but it's totally happening in NS. I have one more day of class and a few days of clinical, a paper to write and then I am halfway done with my RN. I wish it was motivating, but I just want to play.

I do this every semester as well. It's so predicatable with me it's not even funny. I work really hard through the first half of the semester for the good grade, then start feeling the urge to slack which ultimately leads to doing bad on a quiz or test and freaks me out of my "mood." After that I go into uber focused mode and force myself to make up the difference and pull up the good grade in the end. Probably not the best game plan, but it hasn't failed me yet, lol! Pun not intended :D

I'm feeling the same way. I'm taking 19 hours (my LPN classes and RN pre-reqs) and working a couple of days a week. I'm pretty beat and need a break. Fortunately, I had tests in all of my classes last week, so I have very little homework to do tomorrow. Hubby and I are going to see a movie and have a nice lunch. It's the closest I'll get to a vacation, but I'll take it!!

I have this issue every semester but it's much worse this semester because i'm taking my last pre- req and starting the nursing program next semester. I am anxiously waiting on the semester to end so I can rest up, clear my head and prepare for nursing school.

don't slack off guys!! my friend did that last semester and she was forced to retake the class before taking any of the second semester classes! now we won't graduate at the same time :/. finish strong and enjoy your holidays.
