  1. I loved the site! I found it to be accurate most of the time. There were some students that posted negative comments about the teachers because they expected to be treated like babies and thought that everything would be handed to them. They would say things like "He/She caused my GPA to drop!" Ummmm.... No, that would be your own fault. You definitely earned your grade. It was especially helpful for me when I needed to register for my math classes. Math is my worst subject and I needed a patient teacher that is happy to help their students succeed in math. As a matter of fact, my Statistics teacher was recently recognized as having one of the top ratings on the website. She was awesome and I am so glad that someone referred me to that website.:D:D
  2. Congratulations!!! I'm right behind you:D:D:D:D
  3. Congrats!!! I take my final in two weeks!!!
  4. I am so sorry for your loss. I'm praying for you and your family.
  5. I have spent my free time working out at the gym, cleaning and sleeping..... mainly sleeping!!! I really needed it. My son is visiting his dad until Christmas day so I'm enjoying the quiet time. I love browsing around the mall but it's just too crowded so I'll wait until after Christmas. My goal is to do absolutely nothing so I'm well rested for my last semester!!!
  6. If this is what you want to do, why be ashamed? It just doesn't make sense to me to be worried about little things like this. Nurses should be proud of their profession!!!!
  7. This person doesn't speak for all nurse managers so I wouldn't worry about it. I read that same thread and I thought it was pretty ridiculous. Don't let someone ruin your dreams of becoming a nurse because of what they claim to be looking for. Where I live, I was told that most of the hospitals are not hiring new grads unless the job posting says it's specifically for new grads.... I found out that was false.
  8. C-Rod is my fiancées nickname. His name is Chris and my name is Crystal. I graduate in May 2011 and shortly after, we're getting married......Then I'll be C-Rod too :redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe
  9. Congrats!! I hoping to get my preceptorship in the ICU...
  10. I graduate in May 2011! I can't wait:D:D:D:D:D:D
  11. Our class started with about 55 students. We didn't really start losing students until the second and third semester.
  12. I was wondering the same thing. I find it hard to believe that your "friend" failed for missing one question. True enough, one more question may have caused her to pass but this person probably went into the last test at risk for failing. So why are you so outraged? I am not at all being judgmental but I just finished my third semester of NS and it seems like everyone who failed, failed by 1 point. Ummm Yeah..... that's not true. As far as the teacher situation, I have heard so many stories about instructors being mean and unfair and when I meet them, I don't see any of that. I find out later that the students weren't prepared for clinical, showing up late to tests and clinical and want to be babysat the whole time and the instructors get frustrated. I totally understand why. So my advice to you.... Please go into your program with an open mind. You are going to ruin your own experience listening to disgruntled students who expect to be babysat through nursing school.
  13. At the end of our clinical rotations, we always get a gift for our instructor. They really appreciate it. As far as lecture, I don't think any of the students brought gifts for the teachers, instead we may have students or even the teachers bring goodies for the whole class. Maybe it would be uncomfortable for the teacher to receive a gift from a student that is failing. That could be viewed as a bribe.
  14. I graduate in May and I am definitely purchasing a nursing pin! I have wanted to be a nurse since I was a little girl and I want to always remember how happy I felt once I get pinned. It's a symbol of accomplishment. The shadow frame thing is an excellent idea. I will be sure to do that!!
