Elizabeth Warren says doctors, nurses don't treat black women same way as other women

Nurses Headlines

Is it bash medical professions month and I just didn't realize it?

Don't get me wrong I do believe that prejudice exists but according to Ms. Warren, the only concievable reason for the increased materials deaths in African American women is due to doctors and nurses being prejudice. This is absolutely ludicrous.

.....aaaaaand this is the very reason I decline to discuss politics or religion....I’m a full blooded Irish, Roman Catholic, American....nuff said....✌?

Same, only German ?

I did state that EW doesn't give a rats patootie about anyone outside of her circle. I will go on to add that very few of them do, regardless of party affiliation. The few who truly do are far and few in between.

Thankfully, I feel like people are becoming more open to others of different cultures, races, etc, especially younger generations. Thank goodness. No, racism/sexism/whatever-ism, will always exist because small minded idiots will always exist!

If a powerful white Congresswoman with the ability to spearhead reform for healthcare inequities that adversely affect minorities said "Well, I can't really address that because I'm not a racial minority, I'm just concerned about things that affect white people, let the blacks handle that" all hell would break loose.

Yet because she is attempting to do something about it, we are basically hearing "well, I don't want to hear that from her because she is white." Yep, that makes a whole lot of sense.

Basically she is damned is she does and damned if she doesn't.

Context matters. Her history of using people of color is problematic.

If this had been Joe Biden, I would have had a much different reaction.

So you want to listen to the geriatric white dude who has changed his tune more times than a cheap guitar in the hands of a toddler?

Rather him than that user.

Many of you seem ignorant of her past. Look it up. It isn't pretty and a lot of Native American people don't like her because of it. As a person of color, I can't overlook her actions or those of Kamala Harris. They have been inexcusable.

Anita Hill might disagree with you.

Perhaps you can give a hint in where to look? From what i have seen, she believed and shared family lore that had been passed down, did a DNA test, and has since apologized.

I have some things to say about this discussion but I am not sure this is the appropriate place for it. I would be more than happy to continue this in a PM, however.

Joe Biden isn't perfect and he has certainly apologized. Even Bill Clinton realizes he has screwed up royally. But they are human and white men and as white men, they may not have had the insight to see just how drvastating some of their choices were.

Their white female counterparts....that is for a PM. Let's just say 2016 pissed me off on so many levels.

She apologized because she had to as she allowed Trump to paint her in a corner and the lie was in her blood. She knew she wasn't Native but checked the box anyway so she could benefit from it (and she did).

There are a lot of articles about her on the subject, but let's just say she has tainted her image in a way that I can't overlook as it shows a lack of integrity and honor.

So because you're Irish Catholic you're somehow "more" full-blooded American than the rest of us peons? Get over yourself.

....absolutely not.....not ever.......to make it crystal clear for you, because I was born into a blood line that was the first to be “oppressed” in America...FYI, via substantiated research of others and the fact that my great grandmother was a “maid” in her own country, which is why she gave up everything and CAME to America to begin with, I can only tell you this.....I guarantee that you’ll never find one Irish Catholic banging on your door on a lazy Saturday morning, dressed in a white shirt, carrying a Bible, in an attempt to show you the word of God..... and you’ll be hard pressed to find any public celebrations with the theme of “I escaped the terroristic thievery of my country’s land by a neighboring monarchy by leaving that country at 15 on a boat to America in hopes of a better life “.......but what do I know.......

Oh really? Your Irish ancestors were here before the Native Americans and the first African slaves?

Ummm, Black/Native American here. Please, just stop.

People of all races, religions, creeds, etc have been oppressed in this country but Irish were not the first. Don't do that. This isn't a race of oppression. Why go down this path?

I was responding with something similar before I scrolled down an read your post. I swear every time there's a subject on Black, Native American, slavery etc, someone Irish comes along as though they're the first, last, and only victims of wrongdoing in 'Murica. Not on AN but I see it all over the internet and hear it in real life. I fail to see why it's a go to response. All I can do is sigh.
