Is it bash medical professions month and I just didn't realize it?
Don't get me wrong I do believe that prejudice exists but according to Ms. Warren, the only concievable reason for the increased materials deaths in African American women is due to doctors and nurses being prejudice. This is absolutely ludicrous.

The system might be broken but don’t blame the workers on the front line.
Perhaps it’s because we remember an almost identical meme circulated about Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign. Bait me once, shame on you. Bait me twice, shame on me.
Between this and the recent attempt to mischaracterize Nancy Pelosi’s health status, I’m thinking that the “conservative” press and associated meme-spreaders need to update their playbook.
There are countless scholarly articles and studies on this very same topic. What EW said has been proven several times over. Why is there a debate about something that already has proof?
Some of y'all in this thread have internalized this as a personal attack on you. Maybe you need to figure out why you're taking it to heart. I'm getting the "hit dogs" vibe. It's not about ALL healthcare professionals, you, or even strictly nurses as some of you are remixing it to be. Again, EW is repeating what's already been proven.
Check your own bias and ego. The problem isn't in what she said, it's in the substance of what she said, that we shall note wasn't a lie nor misstated. However, some of you who have a staunch hatred of what she said are either guilty of being bigots, willfully ignorant, or so self centered that you can't understand it does happen but because it didn't happen to you it must be a lie. That line of thinking is why this is a "thing."

The problem is, some folks on this thread, have allowed their political biases to cloud something we should all be able to agree on: Better maternal outcomes for women.
I am unabashed Liberal.
But when good ideas come from across the aisle, I embrace them.
A solution to a problem, a good idea, has no party line as far as I am concerned.
The fact that maternal deaths in this country, is higher than other industrialized nations, should give pause to anyone who works in healthcare, is a mother, will be a mother, has a mother, has a sister, or a spouse.
The messenger shouldn't matter.
It is the message that is important.

You can't control bias. There will always be people that decide to be biased, or prejudiced, or racist. It's their choice.
I'd be the first one to cry out foul if I saw a Hospital actually practice, as a whole entity, with prejudice or bias. Trust me on that one.
What we need to do, is not simply point the finger at a supposed "racism" that is happening somewhere but instead go back to the nursing process.
Assess the variables.
Which population was involved? Which doctors and nurses, and which hospitals? Which diagnoses and comorbidities? What was the lifestyle of the patient and what age group? Smokers or nonsmokers? Alcohol users or non users? What was their discharge plans? How were the discharge plans carried out? Where was the followup? etc.
So many variables..and Elizabeth Warren decides to point the finger. Bam! That's it. It's the health care system! The nurses and the doctors! She saw a few case studies so that explains the entire picture.
This is why such news got my blood boiling a little bit. It was really offensive.
Forget Elizabeth Warren. There is a ton of data on this matter. Lots of research, journal articles. Are you offended by their conclusions? So many have concluded - that yes -

And no, I don't particularly care to hear about the black experience from a privileged white woman. I would much rather hear it from black people. White people need to learn that they don't always need to be talking about issues that pertain to the black community... sometimes it is better to just shut up and listen.
So as you can see, I hope she doesn't win primary. #TeamBiden.
So you want to listen to the geriatric white dude who has changed his tune more times than a cheap guitar in the hands of a toddler?

So because you're Irish Catholic you're somehow "more" full-blooded American than the rest of us peons? Get over yourself.

Color me confused as well. Elizabeth Warren should NOT have said what she did about her Native American "heritage." I don't think that discounts her as a candidate and I truly do believe she's damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. You'd rather Biden, whose unspeakable treatment of Anita Hill and whose support for the Crime Bill has set the African American community back decades?
To return to the topic of the thread, the NY Times has an article about a Swedish law, that took effect in 2012, and gives PAID leave of 30 days, to a spouse, or other caregiver, of a postpartum mom.
Sweden Finds A Simple Way To Improve New Mother's Health. It Involves Fathers.
The article also points out the the US, is the only rich nation, with no mandated paid leave for such caregivers.

I don’t discuss politics or religion, as a rule, because it never ends well....so I have only one comment on this.....
....Elizabeth Warren and Joy Behar are cut from similar cloth....I feel like the only reason JB has an issue with EW, is because she prefers attention from men.....but her ultimate goal is to get the current President out of office at ALL costs.....maybe she’ll run herself, lol !! ✌?
