Is it bash medical professions month and I just didn't realize it?
Don't get me wrong I do believe that prejudice exists but according to Ms. Warren, the only concievable reason for the increased materials deaths in African American women is due to doctors and nurses being prejudice. This is absolutely ludicrous.
Sen. Warren is a co-sponsor of Senate Bill 1600 seeking to use evidence based strategies to decrease racial disparities in maternity care. That says to me she has done her homework, and does not all look silly when she speak out on this topic.
Just because one has not witnessed differences in care among various races does not mean it does not exist. I have never seen gravity, but I know it's there.
Right message from the wrong person. She is a white woman who has used her miniscule amount of NA heritage to her advantage. She is very divisive to the NA community.
As a black woman, I am not interested in hearing from a white woman how I, as a black woman, am treated by medical professionals.

I believe she has apologized for the NA thing, even though she never gained advantage from it. She was relying on family legend, which many do. It appears to me that other people are the ones that continually bring it up.
Regarding not hearing from a white woman, what do you think about Kamala Harris? She is also a sponsor of Senate Bill 1600.

Well, what politican would dare be against Senate Bill 1600? It will give all the DNP students something to do. Being against this bill is like being anti-puppy.

I do not understand your response.
Closing the gap, of racial disparities in healthcare only benefits DNP students?
If there is a joke here, I am missing it.

Harris is equally problematic for different reasons that I would rather not get into on this board.

So a leader of our country shouldn't use her platform to echo the voices of many black women who have shared their experiences dealing with institutional racism and implicit bias? Are you implying she should carry on with issues only pertaining to Americans who mirror her identity?

Not from a white woman who has used people of color for her own personal gain. See her controversy with Native American people.
And no, I don't particularly care to hear about the black experience from a privileged white woman. I would much rather hear it from black people. White people need to learn that they don't always need to be talking about issues that pertain to the black community... sometimes it is better to just shut up and listen.
So as you can see, I hope she doesn't win primary. #TeamBiden.

The system might be broken but don’t blame the workers on the front line.
No one is calling nurses racist.
And for the record, healthcare encompasses more than just nurses.
The cause of the problem, is systemic racism.
And systemic racism is all around us.
If a powerful white Congresswoman with the ability to spearhead reform for healthcare inequities that adversely affect minorities said "Well, I can't really address that because I'm not a racial minority, I'm just concerned about things that affect white people, let the blacks handle that" all hell would break loose.
Yet because she is attempting to do something about it, we are basically hearing "well, I don't want to hear that from her because she is white." Yep, that makes a whole lot of sense.
Basically she is damned is she does and damned if she doesn't.

Elizabeth Warren did not look silly.
Those who look silly, are those who criticize her remarks, without knowing the studies that prove what she is saying is true.
If it matters to you, you can probably do a Google search to find out more on the topic.
But disparities in healthcare, whether racial, or urban v rural, are very real.
It shouldn't be that way because everybody is entitled to the best healthcare possible.
