Duke ABSN Fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I figured it was time to start this thread now that the application deadline is nearly here. Let us commence the stress and commiseration!

I finally submitted my Duke ABSN application yesterday after being away from my computer for months while traveling. I feel excited and hopeful, but the reality is that I won't be able to attend without a significant scholarship. I love Duke's program and my partner lives outside of Durham (I'm currently near Tucson, AZ) so this could be the perfect fit.

Nursing will be a second career for me--I'm 34. I'm curious whether most of my fellow applicants are younger or around my age?

Good luck everyone!

anyone know the acceptance rate for this program?

Duke acceptance is 11%. However, in previous years a significant number of waitlisted applicants get in.

I’ve read other threads from previous years, and a lot declined due to finances or accepting other offers.

I have my HEA II interview in feb, I’m praying it goes well.

anyone think they'll let us know earlier than March 1??

Where did you see that? I thought the undergraduate acceptance was 11%, not necessarily the ABSN program.

If it IS 11% YIKES! Does not make me feel good about being accepted. I have really excellent grades, but I am terrified!

When was the final deadline to apply for the Fall 2020 please? Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks!

Hey everyone! I urge everyone to log into their Financial Aid Applicant Access portal to check and make sure that everything has been submitted and processed. I thankfully checked and realized that the Financial Aid Office still needed a 1099 from me. Yikes!

You should have received an email with your login details.

Good luck! (Especially on your HEA II interview, @l8r_sam)

Hello everyone! I submitted my application for the ABSN back in November and my application still says "Ready for Review"... I am curious is anyone else is in the same situation? I emailed admissions yesterday and all they said was "Admissions decisions will be sent out before or on March 1." I just think its strange were close to that deadline and my app still isn't "under review." lol

Guess I worried a little too much haha. But I saw last Friday that my status had changed to "under faculty review," so if anyone else encounters this, don't worry like I did! Good luck to everyone applying - 2 weeks is approaching soon!!

anyone else hoping we hear back earlier than March 1?

Hi! I’m 21 and I applied to the ABSN program at Duke. Currently in undergrad, going straight into nursing school. I applied for 5 programs: Duke, Johns Hopkins, Xavier, Rush, and Rochester. I already received one acceptance from Xavier, and I am waiting for more! I also interviewed with HEA, and it was fantastic. I hope to hear back from Duke before March 1. The anticipation is eating me up!

Hi again! I am really hoping to hear back before then... I applied to MUSC, Duke, and Emory. I already received an acceptance to MUSC and paid their deposit back in January. Im really struggling if I want to forfeit the deposit I paid for their program to attend Duke (if accepted) - since it is my top choice. But I also struggle with Emory because their program is a direct entry Masters... I am curious what other peoples stats are? Here are mine:

- public health major

- 3.8 cumulative; 4.0 pre-req (missing micro and psych)

- research experience (biology and public health)

- internship in healthcare/hospital administration

- worked at a med school's free clinic for 2 years
