Dr. Pimple Popper Thinks Nurses Have No Place Educating Patients

Why would a registered nurse explain this? Why not a dermatologist?

Well, Dr Pimplepopper is entertainment sooo.... I’ll stop there

Specializes in ICU, LTACH, Internal Medicine.

Not a question. Doctor, can you kindly get out of your cozy office, there is a mile-long line in your waiting room and they all need to be educated... is there a Starbucks somewhere near, I am gonna to take my coffee break! (speeding away)

I had kind of thought a Dr who specializes in popping pimples wasn’t someone to take seriously as a medical professional, but my bad.

If the Dr would like to take over educating the patients on their conditions, discharge instructions, medications, health promotion / lifestyle choices.... that would be fantastic. Please go right ahead! Feel free to notify the hospitals and other employers of nurses that this really is a job for the Doctors.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.

Specializes in L&D, Epic IT.

I look forward to her statement of "it wasn't me who said that. It was the person in charge of my social media."

I'm pretty sure one of our main responsibilities is patient education. You also don't need to be a MD to explain the difference between sunburn and sun poisoning.

Specializes in Practice educator.

She's deleted original tweet so its all gone for me to check it out. Patient education is such a massive part of our role, she's a buffoon if she really believes this.

She peeked out of the window, saw mile-long line for sign "sunscreen RX and education, see our Board Certified Dermatologist first", fainted and accidentally pressed "delete" button ?

The real issue is public health literacy... Nothing to do with md/nurse but if you need an example, just look at the current pandemic.

Specializes in ER.

It takes two years to see a dermatologist here, and the nurse advice line is right at the end of the phone....that's why.
