Dr. Phil today

Published

ok, just now i was watching dr. phil interveiw a physician who had an affair with a nurse and he said (as close a paraphrase as i can remember from five minutes ago):

"i've worked in the health care delivery system for a long time and i've seen lots of times nurses playing footsie with doctors because they see it as their ticket out of having to work as a nurse".

ok, i'm not going to even get into all the problems with this statement since they are obvious, i am writing the show right now to explain why this is not an acceptable way to desribe a profession.

who's with me?

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

That article WAS written by an adult, correct?

Note: Although the above piece was written in Dr. Phil's style as a parody, the descriptions of his November 18 show, including the statements attributed to him, are accurate.

He does talk like that, doesn't he? That's why I can't stand him for more than two minutes, although my sister thinks he walks on water!

Sooooooooo? Did anyone e-mail the show yet? My choice of words would probably not be the most professional sounding so I'll pass however I checked to see if they displayed any choice words against Dr Phil on the website like they do in the comment section and of course there wasn't. Not yet. Maybe he'll address it in a few years. :uhoh3:

Specializes in Utilization Management.

Yep, I emailed him about it. Start cookin' up that crow, ladies. :)

I e-mailed them, too. Will be interesting to hear what they (he) have to say...

Kicking Dr. Phil's a** to the curb

November 18, 2004 -- Hello, and thank you. (Applause.) Thank you so much. Today we have with us Dr. Phil McGraw, a clinical psychologist for over 25 years. A man with a successful, nationally syndicated daily television show. And a man who earlier today suggested on the air that the health care system is full of "cute little nurses" who are out to "seduce and marry" physicians "because that's their ticket out of having to work as a nurse." more... http://www.nursingadvocacy.org/news/2004nov/18_dr_phil.html

Thank you, I was sticking up for Dr. Phil, until I saw the tape for myself. I'm not only turned off to Dr. Phil, I'm insulted as a woman. The website is great!!

Anyone gonna check to see if they (HIS staff) will post "it" on the official website......??????? That "IT" being our....get ready ladies........PISSED/OFF/ITNESS????? Not a word ......I am aware...... but sounds good ...non?

I do think he needs to know that he pissed off many a lady and many a nurse, just like Oprah does when she addresses all the bad e-mails she gets when she says anything derogatory towards anybody.

Gotta looooove the Oprah. :)

So not liking Dr Whathisname.

Specializes in floor to ICU.

"I've worked in the health care delivery system for a long time and I've seen lots of times nurses playing footsie with doctors because they see it as their ticket out of having to work as a nurse".

:nono: Shame on you, Dr. Phil

PURLPLE.......i agree that women outnumber men in nursing field...but to say that the 'majority' of male nurses are 'not interested' in women' is wrong....i have worked with a lot of nurses..male/female...gay/straight..and i believe that the ratios of nurses sexual preferences are on par with the population as a whole...

another reason for me to not watch dr phil !

I think and I feel that Dr Phil would benifit from this thread so how do we send it? The whole thing?
