The way that this Covid vaccine works is quite different from the flu shot. The Covid vax. is not a (dead) bacteria or virus being injected into your body. (With Pfizer & Moderna) RNA (called messenger RNA) that's been coded in a lab goes into your arm. The RNA has instructions, or a code, that gets deposited on the cell. The ribosomes of the cell make a spike protein. It looks similar to the spike protein on the surface of the actual Corona virus. Then your body is supposed to make antibodies (antigens) that goes after the spike protein and neutralize it.
The problem is that this has not been tested in any long-term studies, so, this is more of an experiment. We don't know whether or not the DNA gets permanently changed (possibly bad). We're talking about something that's not supposed to be in your body (made in a lab) that can bind to the surface of your cells and possibly may not be able to be reversed.
Also, since the drug is still being evaluated for long term adverse effects, pregnancy, etc., the FDA would not license the drug, but instead, put out as EUA... Emergency Use Authorization.

AHHHH but we were NOT talking about suicide. You were the one who mentioned the long-debunked link between vaccines and increased prevalence of autism.

Jack, Jack, Jacko me boy, 'the suicide rates like autism has risen', that's a typo, right? That's an incredibly broad statement and it possibly explains why you think the way you do. Analytics me lad!
There could be numerous factors influencing that outcome incl what you are postulating, but, in the midst of a pandemic, a post worshipper of all the bad things like racism, misogyny and corruption and numerous other factors like job losses, schools closing etc etc, you have to narrow it down matey!

So suicide in teens is not multifactoral - it's all due to the phones? This is the same argument as ice cream causing drownings. The exact same logical fallacy.

Please do share YOUR experiences with patients who have or have had covid-19 and who were under your management of their treatment. What was their course? How did it go? What was their treatment plan? How did covid affect co-morbidities? What did you do to facilitate communication between your patient and their loved ones? What was their outcome?
Do tell of your vast experience. WE have ALL experienced this. This has been a devastating year for millions upon millions of human beings and it continues to be a massive cause of burnout and ptsd for all involved in the delivery of healthcare.
But it's getting better. There is hope. The vaccine is doing it's job. But even so, these things will never replace the trauma this PANDEMIC has inflicted upon so many.
How do you not at least feel the humanity in this whole thing? More than 540,000 people have DIED. Leaving millions grieving. That's all that really needs to be said.

I want to know too cause I also lost a family member to this disease. one who would be alive if not for COVID.

No, but have to give you credit for your excellent skills at spinning.

A guy on my bowling team lost his parents on the same day two months ago prior to being able to get the vaccine. One day there were vibrant and healthy, two weeks later dead from covid. His siblings and their grandkids are devastated. There is a real human toll behind all this bickering over the vaccine, lockdown and masks.
But like you said there is hope. Here in Florida, after health care workers, nursing home residents have been vaccinated next. The evidence is in, covid rates in residents have dropped dramatically. They were one of the hardest hit populations during the Summer surge here and many deaths.

Your CFR is currently 1.8%. If I was forced to make a guess the IFR might be something like 0.5% to 1% .. ? No vaccine has ever been anywhere near those numbers.
What is CFR?
Code of Federal Regulations? Council on Foreign Relations?
What is IFR?
Instrument flight rules? International Financing Review?
As you see, Google isn't helping me much. ?

CFR = case fatality ratio (deaths among confirmed cases)
IFR = infection fatality ratio

"...a worrying pattern has emerged—more young people seem to be getting severely ill and dying from Covid-19, doctors tell CNN."

So, to the people on this thread who say that being young and fit will keep them safe. What are you going to do now? Your "youth" and alleged "fitness" isn't going to do you much good if that variant gets loose.
Go on, tell me it's only CNN, they are "fake news".
