Do You Like, Love or Dislike Your current job?

Started a new job, recently. Seems like most I work with are pretty displeased with their jobs. How about you? Just curious.

Specializes in Family Nurse Practitioner.
And one thing I've found out, is that great jobs can turn to crap very quickly.

Oh absolutely and I'll be ready to hit the door running if/when that happens. Life is too short to be unhappy at work.

Specializes in CMSRN.

I love/like my job. I work 3rd shift fri-sun. The pay is beautiful and I miss the crowd and high pace of the weekdays.

However if I had to work the dayshift during the week I would hate it.

I do not like cliques and we have one with the NM and assist nurse manager a part of it. I like them individually but as a group they can be a pain.

For me, what makes or breaks my job is the people. I rely on them for support. (Even though I graduated May of 2007 I still feel very new.) I did

not get this same support from days.

Also the type of pt's we get are so diverse that you never know what your night will be like till you get started. I love that aspect of my job. Keeps me on my toes.

Specializes in Orthopedics.

I would say I like my job. The people I work with are great along with the manager. The patient population isn't too bad and I usually see a progression of the patients from day to day. Although, I'm ready for a change to telemtry or some type of ICU I think.

Specializes in LTC, Med-SURG,STICU.

I like the work that I do, but hate the politics that goes on. However, most of my co-workers are fairly nice people and I get along with them well.

If I had the chance to do something that was more challenging I would go for it no questions asked.

Specializes in Pediatric/Adolescent, Med-Surg.

I love my job. I have supportive co-workers, good management, and I love my pt population. I know I won't stay on this floor forever, but I'm glad it is my first RN job!

Specializes in ICU/CCU.

I like my job, and I love the people I work with. But night shift is killing me. I thought I would adjust, but it's been almost two years and I still feel like a sick zombie. There won't be any day shifts available on my unit any time soon so I'm looking for a new job even though I do really like the one I have.

Specializes in ED, ICU, PACU.

So true.

Found a job that pays great, days, no weekends or holidays. I should be happy; but, the staff are the most miserable people I have ever met. Constant bickering and belittlement, with management that seems to have mental problems. Also, patient advocacy is written up and not tolerated (not kidding).

Thought that I could tough it out because it has all the other things that should make me happy. Will be leaving after the Holidays because I have come to realize that the relationship with coworkers and quality patient care needs to be the priority over pay, hours and days off.

Specializes in ICU, M/S,Nurse Supervisor, CNS.

I love nursing, but I really like my job...well jobs. I work part-time in an ICU and part-time as a nursing supervisor to break up the monotony of doing either full time. I love the fact that being a nurse comes with almost limitless opportunities to work in many different areas with many different people.

Specializes in OB.

wow.. this post couild have been written by me. I hate the dayshift at the hospital I am at.. they all need to take a pill.

I work 2nd shift ( we do 12's, so there is only day/night shift) and MOST of them are ok.. but we have a group of very jr high-ish 20-25 year olds and i most certainly dont fit in, dont want to fit in and they make sure that I will never belong to their secret handshake society. they are also famous for writing untruths in evals about other nurses that are not in their clique.

sad state of affairs since the UNM knows about it and it still continues.

Specializes in Medical/Surgical/Maternal and Child.

Love my job!!!

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

The economy is tough right now. I'm fortunate to be employed during a time when millions of others are jobless, so I won't complain. Things could be worse.

Specializes in OR.

I almost love my job. any job has issues and politics. I work at an RTC, which is Residential Treatment Center. We care for mentally ill, neglected, abused, emotionally disturbed, TBA and more. It is a real committment. You either jump in with both feet or you are miserable and leave. Pay is not great in $. But in doing work that is important and worthwhile and loving the children there is no equal. I had an exciting OR career. Now I am giving back!:heartbeat
