Do you think schools will resume this year?

Hi,

I'm a school nurse in the northeast. We are closed for at least 2 weeks, but I anticipate it will be much longer than that. I really do hope that we get to a point where it is safe to reopen, but my gut is saying that we might be done for this school year.

What are your thoughts?

A few states have confirmed students are done for the year.

I am in Florida too and feel the exact same way! I miss my kiddos

I am in North Georgia. Students were out last week and will not return until ?? I am thinking we are finished for the year. Yet...I am here at school. A skeleton crew is delivering free breakfast and lunches to our students. I take their vitals as soon as they walk in the door....

We were told March 30, then we extended until May15. Worried.

I am so frustrated! The people at the county office have no idea as to what they are doing. We approached our "leader" at the county office concerning a principal wanting to mask everyone and when we told her we did not deem that necessary and we did not have them. She exclaimed "let's order some!"......Okay, maybe we can magically make some appear! LOL! I do not know WHERE she has been the last few weeks!!

Based on the info I just heard in a meeting with our district Safety guy, I don't think we are going back this year, and may start next year like this.

It may be time to start pursuing other pathways

I think most schools in NYC would be done for the year. I'm an agency school nurse and I was given work to do 1:1 on some of the students that are currently at home.

They haven't officially called ours yet. We're slated to go back in April, but I tend to doubt it. The district is already working on "Continuity of Learning" plans with the assumption that we won't be back in the buildings.

MA extended closure to May 4th yesterday.

I want to be wrong (I really hope I am!), but my gut say no school for the remainder of the year.

I’m a school nurse in central Texas our Mayor has shelter in place for our area until April 13 I doubt they will reopen the director of health department has recommended all schools to remain shut the resume in fall. They won’t have enough hospital beds if they reopen is what they are saying.

I am in Connecticut. We are closed thru April 20 but the governor has already said it will likely extend through June. Which means, I will have to quit my job. (I’m a nurse, but not a school nurse FYI.). My son is 8, so he can’t stay alone and homeschool himself for 10 hours a day. My husband— the main breadwinner— has been working from home but can’t do that forever. There’s no one that we can call in to rescue us (aunts etc) so... that’s it then. I’m fortunate that financially it will be okay for us, but I’m not sure how all the other families in the same situation are going to survive.

I’m in VA. They closed for the remainder of the year on Monday.

I miss my high school kids. I worry over them a lot.

Now I wonder if I’m getting paid. I’m salary, with a yearly contract.
