Do you ever get concerned about certain users on here?

Published

I love this forum and tend to lurk more than post, but there's a couple of users here that sound a little unstable and I worry about them. I guess it's refreshing that not everyone posts how well nursing is for them, but just certain people I wonder about... anyone else feel this way?

There are all sorts on here, CrustyOldBats like me, snowflakes who sometimes melt, sometimes turn into diamonds, SJWs (yes Emergent, I had to look it up too :) ), trolls who like to stir up trouble, younger nurses who run the gammet from solid to entitled to overly-self-confident. And everything in between.

Some seem a little unstable (okay, a lot); some confrontational, some tired of the same old complaints (talk about your knee jerk reactions at times, guilty of that myself time or two), and some just wanna have fun.

Yep. I agree with you. Sounds like someone's trying to sow discord. Enough of that.

Hello! I've attempted to pm but only thing that comes back is instability.

Well no one has every accused me of being normal. In my family we have always said why be normal? Normal is safe, predictable and boring and who want's to be all that.

There is only one poster whom I had genuine concerns about. They left, returned under another name and now are gone again (or doing a better job of masking who they are). That individual genuinely seemed to need mental/medical attention.

I get concerned about this one running around with a Shaun the Sheep picture as their user pic...

Seriously, if you (OP and general) ever have a concern about another poster, use the "Report Post" feature (yellow triangle with exclamation point in it) on one of their posts and let us know what your concerns are. It's better for you to do that than to discuss concerns in public threads. It also brings it to our attention faster.

We do investigate every single report that is made. However, please understand that for the privacy of both the poster you are concerned about as well as your privacy, we may not give you an update as to what actions, if any, will be taken.

I'm not crazy--my mother had me tested.

Ive never gotten concerned about anyone as a "person", to my knowledge I dont know anyone here and Im not friends with anyone here.

I have gotten concerned about some posters' continued employment within the field of healthcare. Whether it's the 8+ NCLEX attempts, the 5 or so med errors with in their first year of employment, or some of the other personal and disturbing details posters have shared here in connection with their employment.

Ummm...I'd be more concerned about the one running around with Dr. Johnny Fever as his user pic and I think if the truth be known, there's probably a lot of us that are very concerned about him!!. :wacky: :clown: :roflmao:

After many years on this site, I've come to see AN as family, and have indeed become friends with number of members with whom I talk almost daily via Facebook or text. But I don't just pay attention to my friends, I tend to watch over the forums that I frequent, and when I have a concern about a member I will PM the Admins and ask them to reach out to the person. Dealing with someone else's mental or physical health crisis is way above my pay grade, so I turf it to the people who can actually help. That doesn't stop me from worrying, of course, because as a nurse it's in my blood. But if it's none of my business, I just report it and let the staff handle it.
