Published

hi guys

those who wrote letters and sent emails to dr.phil about what he said about nurses in his show, i just want to let you guys know that he read part of the letter that was sent to him and he apologized about it in his show today. he should have quoted what he actually said in his show but he didnt. he didnt sound very apologetic, he sounded a little sarcastic and belittling. he said that professional image is very important and that nurses are backbone of medical field.

so i want to thank all of you who sent letters and emails to dr. phil and speaking up for nurses!!!!!!! :)

GOOD!

I sent an email to him about it so I am glad he addressed it. Normally I think Dr. Phil has the right idea, but that comment he made about nurses only going into nursing to 'snag a doctor' was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!

Glad he adknowledged so.

I thought his words were very nice.....he sounded sincere. I am not a fan of his, but I am appreciative that he at least addressed our concerns in the way he did.

he always sounds nasty and sarcastic to me no matter what the subject matter. i stopped watching him long ago. matter of fact i have just about stopped watching network tv alltogether. it is tlc, discovery channel, history channel, outdoor life network, food channel, animal planet, travel channel, upn and sometimes spike tv that is on my tv 90% of the time.

Er...guess I'm out of the loop. What did he say?

Well, he certainly did a good job of fluffing over what started the letters. He never acknowledged that he made a patently false statement about the profession. Rather than reading a letter from one of the many nurses who wrote him in protest, he instead tried to be cute again by reading a letter from his sisters.

Personally, I'm still rooting for them to beat him up. I really don't think he should do us any favors by doing a program on the image of nurses in the media/public...with friends like him, who needs enemies?

Exactly what i thought! His apology was a load of BS. Why doesn't he recap with a clip exactly what he said but no....that would mean thousands of viewers would see that his "apology" which only addressed a letter from his sisters (bias anyone?) was really NOT referring to what he actually said. Now read a real letter Dr Phil and write your OWN apology...dont let your producers write the politically corect version.

:rotfl:

While I certainly understand where you're coming from on that one, there is a way to turn this to our advantage and FINALLY have some real dialogue about what nurses do, how much intelligence and education we must have, and hopefully, what we're up against. All this might just get some education to an uninformed public.

I say this could be a good thing. Call it "spin," call it whatever you like, but Nurses, I implore you, let's not miss this opportunity to do something positive for the profession.
