OK, there are a lot of people at work saying that at some time Hillary Clinton said that nurses pay is way too high and that they are just glorified baby sitters. Has any one else heard this. I've looked at may sights on her and can't find it. If she did say that, it needs to be made known. Nurses are a large voting population. I hope for her sake she didn't say that. Is that part of her medical reform plan ? :angryfire :pumpiron:
Excellent assessment, and you're absolutely right... these sort of vague-rumors are more effective. Think about it; if her foes were denouncing things she actually said (taken in or out of context), that would give her an opening to defend herself and prove them wrong.Actually, Commuter, those foes have found making unsubstantiated claims such as this to be much more effective than dealing with reality. This new thing "well I heard so and so say (blah blah) and on it goes through the internet and the watercooler until the,um, let's call it ignorant, people just take it as fact and continue the telephone game.
It's actually a fairly effective tactic based on how many people fall for this type of thing. It's also dirty politics. The real shame is it only works because so many Americans are ill informed themselves and won't do the work necessary to become informed.
Nah, much easier to believe Obama is a muslim or McCain fathered that illigitimate black child instead.
What REALLY annoys me is when people throw this kind of stuff out as just another "innocent" question.......
UH HUH.....
and 10 thousand more people get to read it who hadn't heard it before.......yup, effective...just tacky.....
actually, according to snopes, the quote is:"Nurses are overpaid and undereducated".
see how (easily) things get lost in translation???

That doesn't sound very good. That sounds denigrating.
I think she's overpaid. I also don't like that she was on the board of Walmart, which is an anti-union company.
I am trying to learn more about her health care plan. So far I am getting it will decrease nursing wages. If this is true than her actions speak louder then any rumors. Does anyone no if Hillary wants to decrease nursing wages?
This is what Hilary wants to do with health care - and I heard it DIRECTLY from her mouth.
I'm paraphrasing here - she stated that everyone would have health care insurance - whether they wanted it or not. And if you don't have it, or sign up for it, SHE will sign you up for it, decide what you need, and garnish your wages to pay for it.
Don't get me wrong - I would never go without, as long as I can afford it. But that's 'MY' opinion. Do I have the right to insist that you all must do as 'I' want?
She stated that there are at least 20 million people in the US that could well afford it, but don't have insurance - and SHE is going to fix that.
Well, how in the world does she know what people can afford? And do you really want the government to have full access to all your health info? The dems raised heck about the Patriot act, and wiretapping, etc. Yet that's small potatoes compared to the loss of privacy you will experience when they take over your health care.
Bandit, are you sitting down? I'm going to agree with you here,on one point, it is a BAD mistake to mandate the buying of private health insurance, it would be paramount to rewarding the crooks for robbing the folks next door.If Hillary does'nt come up with a better idea, she may be out of the running. This is what Hilary wants to do with health care - and I heard it DIRECTLY from her mouth.I'm paraphrasing here - she stated that everyone would have health care insurance - whether they wanted it or not. Honestly, Sen. Clinton doesn't give a rip about nursing wages. I suspect it's a thought that never, ever crosses her mind. The world doesn't think about nursing issues. And I can guarantee that Clinton has bigger things on her plate than to think about how much we make.
I don't agree with her health care plans. That's one of the reasons why I could never support her. But IF she became president, and IF she got through some form of universal illness insurance, this would mean that every hypochondriac in America would be in for an office visit at least once a week. Which equals more demand for health professionals: among them, nurses. And when in history has demand led to LOWER wages? Think about this, folks.
