DEATH TO THE ALARM!

Got a fiercely independent frequent faller. Disconnects his clip alarms, breaks the chair alarms.

We rig up an alarm on his bathroom door. That's Wednesday. By Friday, after repeatedly cursing us out, he grabbed a cane and beat it to death.

(Yes, he has already signed an AMA....)

I'd love to do that to a couple of monitors in our unit. If we ever replace them, they're going send them to the Smithsonian cuz Florence scratched her initials on the bottom!

Not so secretly. Activities and PT keep coming up with new interventions and I can't just say, "Bite me." So I acquiesce and then silently cheer when he beats the crap out of the annoyance.

That is so funny! That is one of the reasons that you have to love LTC- but sometimes it can be so frustrating too! I love the locked dementia units- especially after sundown...

I have a couple of tele monitors that need the cane tx. Maybe I will put the thought in Mr. Sundowner's head...
