Dangers of teaching kids they can be boys or girls

One girl is struggling with her gender, and now 3 girls who are all friends of the first girl, think they are trans and have asked the doctor for hormones.

Two of these girls have issues eg self harm (cutting) and playing with eating disorders.

It appears some young teenagers are substituting typical self-harm strategies with a new way to self harm, and this is to try and change gender.

The UK has gone from 50 gender dysphoria cases a year to over 2000. This is a lie. This has come about because children are being told they can be the opposite gender, and that gender is a social construct.

This is a danger to children, and I'm dealing with it at work.

Can anyone else see the harm this ******** is causing?

Are you actually serious?

How about this biological difference.

XX and XY - tell me which one belongs to which gender.

Yes, I'm serious ... I want to know just who is claiming that there is no biological gender. Apparently, they don't exist, since you don't seem to be able name or quote them.

Well, this guy is a 'expert' in trans stuff, and on national tv

I'm missing the part where being transgender is a harmful state in and of itself. If tomorrow I start living as Night Nerd Ned instead of Night Nerd Nancy, the only problems I anticipate are from the judgy people I know. This is one of this things where you really can just sit back and accept other people, even if you don't understand them - which you clearly do not.

I have definitely seen an increase in transgender students at my school. I do feel the media has a lot to do with this, not in a bad way though. I think these kids are finally feeling comfortable enough in their own skin to live their authentic lives. Because of all the the media attention, Kids are not so afraid anymore and this is a great thing. Everyone has the right to be happy in their life.

It's odd, but ALLNURSES won't let me post the link where you can watch as a professor from one your universities says on national TV there is no biological difference.

Shame on you. The system is designed to make it incredibly difficult for trans* individuals to transition. People like you who consider being trans* "fake" or "a phase" are a huge part of the problem. Trans* individuals have more than enough barriers to begin with. They don't need you making it any worse. I just pray you have the good sense to keep these thoughts to yourself, especially around children.

here you go

Your idea of presenting a reputable source is a...YouTube video?

Let's see some peer reviewed research that backs up what you're saying. Anecdotes and YouTube videos won't cut it. If you make inflammatory, controversial comments on a public forum without backing them up, you're going to get called out on it.

Wow---four pages of this thread, and no one's lost their mind yet. Just goes to prove that nurses don't ALWAYS eat their young, or in this case controversial posters. Carry on!

I admit that I find transgender people very confusing, kind of like Rachel Dolezal who "feels" black but was a blue-eyed blonde at birth. I can't see how it's harmful, though ...so if it makes them happy, I'm happy to go along with it.
