SOS..SOS.. PLEASE PEOPLE I NEED YOUR HELP

IMO you are asking a life choice question that would totally depend on your circumstances.

1. Can you afford money-wise to wait for an RN school position.

2. Would you be happy waiting and first going through the LVN then the RN?

3. Will you have time to take an RN course while working?

4. Why was your application to the other three denied, simply space or is there something else you may need to study/do and are you able to do that?

5. What are your future chances in getting into an RN program?

Sorry, I don't know about LVN to RN programs.

Specializes in A myriad of specialties.

I've never heard of a FREE LVN program. Is the program certified? Who pays the instructors of that program? I'd definitely THOROUGHLY check it out before attending; if it is certified then by all means attend. Working as an LVN/LPN will give you valuable skills and a leg up when it comes to attending the RN program.

Specializes in Psych, LTC, Acute Care.

I definetly think you should go for the LPN if you can't get into the RN program. The same thing happened to me. I tried from 2004-2006 to get into an RN program(8 of them to be exact). I took all the sciences over, math and psyc classes and had a GPA of 3.7. My problem was those HOBET and NET test. I could not score high enough on them to be competative. Well in 2006 I applied to this CC RN program but did not make high enough on the NET test to get in. They offered me a seat in the LPN program so I took it. Boy am I glad I did! I completed the program Aug 2007. I then enrolled in Excelsior College(on-line) for their ASN program in Nov of 2007. I completed that program Dec 2008 as I worked as an LPN in a nursing home. NOW I am a RN working in a hospital! Yes I took a non traditional route to get my RN but I took the same NCLEX as everyone else and I accomplished my dream.

You have to make the best of you situation. IF you want to become an RN and the LPN is all that is offered to you, Then do it. Its just that much closer to getting what you want! Good Luck!

Kim, RN

Where I teach LPN can go to school for one year, then return in January and end in December. It is a good deal since they can work as a LPN while attending school as a RN.

Yes, free education is very hard to pass up. Like someone suggested here, make sure it is properly certified.

CCSF (LVN program) definately certified program. I have financial aids. So it would probabily cover most of my tuition since my income is not at the level.

Are you talking about California? Many of the community college RN programs went to a lottery system because of the huge numbers of people signing up for their RN programs.

Yes, I would go for the LVN program but keep applying for the RN program. If your name never comes up for the RN classes you will have an LVN and a career. As an LVN you can start working, get experience, tuition reimbursement and get into an LVN to RN bridge program. If your name gets picked in the lottery, just withdraw from the LVN classes.

There were one or two community colleges in California that gave first priority to employees of local hospitals that applied to their RN programs. The one I know of is in a rural area of southern California, but I do not know if they still do that. Are you willing to move to the mountains?

GO!

Work and do a transition program online or in person.

GO!

Sorry, I don't know about LVN to RN programs.

1) I can afford money while waiting for a RN school, I am single in my 20th, but I am just afraid what if I still can't get in just like many other who have been waiting for their RN acceptance letter for years.

2) I don't know if I would be happy, all I know is that I have to do something in the fall semester cuz I am finished. ( no more pre-requesits)

3) I will have time but I don't know how in tense that program is going to be cuz I have never thought I would have gotten in .. ( since I was just applied for fun and whatever)

4) I applied to

Samuel Merritt College ( Private) denied for sure cuz they only accpet 4 students in the fall but I am pretty sure I have a chance to get into their spring program ( :sniff: 60,000 for two years, I don't think my family can afford it but with financial aids it will be ~ 30,000)

SFSU (Public BSN) denied cuz some special reason I went to a UC and at there my GPA weren't high enough but none of these classes are science associated or nursing associated. since sfsu asks for ALL TRANSCRIPTS, I sent them these scores and they denied me cuz that I have low overall score even though I had straight As in all my pre-requisits and non pre-requisits from other JCs.

Chabot College (jc RN ) - Lottory_ unlucky

5) I have a very good chance, before LVN acceptance letter, I was goanna study for my TEAS over the summer and score high on that exam so I have even better chance applying to other campus besides the ones in northern CA. I just don't need to send them my UC gpa cuz it has nothing to do with that science nor nursing. ( yeah, that was very stupid I know. if I don't send them in then I should be going to sfsu in the fall) :angryfire:angryfire cuz with my gpa it's a garanteed spot

Guys sorry its pretty long and it may contains misspelling.. yeah sorry

btw. Thanks for your concern. But please give me your feedback.

I'd go for it. I went to lpn school, between financial aid and work paid nothing. Best thing I have ever done.
