I'm a little confused. I received an e-mail today stating my application has passed the initial admissions review and is complete. Yet my GRE has not been waived. Does that sound right?

I submitted mine over a month ago and I still haven't received an email saying it moved onto the next stage. I have an X still on my GRE and an X on one of my transcripts because I am still taking classes. I hope this doesn't affect me.

I'm still taking classes, too. I also submitted current transcripts to show enrollment and that most of the pre-reqs are complete.

Unless you haven't taken any pre-reqs, I wouldn't think finishing classes would negatively affect you. (Actually, it was one of my main reasons for applying to CU!) The e-mail mentioned, "If you are currently completing coursework, we will email you in the near future on how to submit these grades."

Just received an email yesterday saying my initial review is complete, and the GRE has finally been waived!

so excited.

Gonna spend the next 2 months working, and then going on a month long family vacation in January, haha.

Good luck everyone!

Just had a question about government loans. If the masters portion is approx $80-100,000 (after deductions made by Columbia). Can you get the rest of the amount covered by a federal government loan or do they place limits on your borrowing? I'd rather do government than credit cards/private loans.

It would most likely be a mix between Stafford and Graduate Plus Loans dependent on prior loans. If you have already reached the maximum lifetime aggregate loan limit for Stafford loans you automatically have to go with a GRAD PLUS loan. The Grad Plus has no limit on borrowing and you can borrow up to the cost of attendance. Government is the way to go vs Private in my opinion.

If you majored in a biology-related field in undergrad but haven't completed all your prerequisites, you're okay. The concern is usually for the students who got their degree in a non-science field, but haven't completed the prerequisites.

Yeah, I've taken AP1 and 2 w/ lab.

Currently taking Micro w/ lab, and I love it.

I took 2 stats courses in the past, but they were more than 5 years ago. I'm sure I'll have no probably w them.

Nutrition I still have yet to take. I was probably going to take these two (Nut and Stats) online.
