Columbia SON MDE 2019
Hey, is anyone considering NOT going to Visiting day? I was planning on going, but got surprised with a last minute vacay that weekend for my birthday. I would hate to miss out on vital information and a chance to meet my peers, and faculty. Do any current students have any input about visiting day?? Thanks.

Hey Ya'll Congrats to everyone who got in! I was accepted to MDE with merit based scholarship! I applied to MDE portion only as I was unsure if I wanted to pursue CRNA or PMHNP, and now I am leaning more towards psych. I feel like I should have just applied for DNP now so that I had a chance at the seamless scholarship. Does anyone know if they offer scholarships for people who apply to the DNP right after their MDE? Thanks, cannot wait to meet you all.

Hi! Thanks so much for willing to answer our questions. I'm pretty anxious about the price for Columbia, they keep giving us estimates in the 110-130 range. I was wondering if u could share any information regarding how much the "final" price is, as well as info on Financial aid, grants, scholarships from the school, or anything at all regarding mitigating the huge price tag. Thank you SO MUCH!

Hey! Sorry to bother again, I was wondering if you knew of any scholarships that students applied to in the program. I was looking around but wasn't sure which are right for someone looking to go into a program like this one in particular. Or if you know if Columbia offers any, and about how much? Thanks!

interesting. Thanks so much for the info! Another question I have is, do you know what sort of extracurriculars nursing students can be involved in? Like are we able to join clubs, help with research, or be TA's etc. or do U think that the program is too rigorous for us to be able to even do any of that? Thanks.

Hey! Thanks so much for willing to answer our questions, that is super nice of you! So, My plan is to complete the MDE program and work as an RN for a year or two to gain some experience and think about what I would like to do ( as I am deciding if i want to do anesthesia). I just wanted to make sure that with the master's in nursing that I would be able to work as an RN. I spoke to an RN recently and she told me that having your masters and being an RN doesn't exist, so I was pretty confused about what the actual degree awarded is. Does it let you practice as an RN? Thanks so much!
