Columbia SON MDE 2019

Hey Everyone!

Just wanted to start this thread for those who are all applying to the Columbia School of Nursing MDE program for 2019 Entry.

I figured we could all share our thoughts/ questions/ concerns here, or just use this to meet some new people ?

My name is Gurdeep, I'm from NY, and I'm a recent Grad from Binghamton University. Looking forward to meeting all of you ?

Hi everyone, congrats on completing your applications! I just recieved an acceptance to NYU's program! I really want to go to columbia but the only problem is that thier decision date is in feb. NYUs program starts in Jan 28... do you guys think I would be able to have a total withdrawel from NYU if i get an acceptance to columbia? Would it effect anything? I do not want to decline such a great opportunity from NYU just to wait for columbia to decline or a waitlist me. Both programs are great but I would prefer to go to columbia. Thanks for any advice!

Congratulations!! You would need to contact NYU's admissions team. You can ask Columbia if your credits will transfer over if you are doing the first semester at NYU ?

Congrats on your acceptance! I believe NYU has classes that enter in the Spring and Fall, is there no way to defer your enrollment until the fall? I will be applying to this program also but I am waiting to learn Columbia's decision first.

I read the terms for defering, you are not allowed to defer to attend/enroll in another school. Basically like early decision app.. you are bound to the school

Hi everyone,

I applied in September for the MDE/DNP (Psych) program. Has anyone received any emails other than your application has been received/moved on to faculty committee? I was reading last years threads and just comparing to know what to expect.

I applied to the MDE/DNP Nurse-Midwifery program and still haven't received an email to say my application has moved on to faculty. Anyone else in the same boat? I checked in with admissions to ask if they have everything-which they have. Hate this waiting game!

Hi Vimmie,

Maybe the Midwifery faculty has not yet pulled applications yet. I noticed that another Psych applicant here had theirs pulled the same days as mine (also Psych). Try to relax (ha easier said than done)! Wishing you the best.

Thanks! I'm trying not to stress-some days are better than others! I need to apply to NYU too but I'm hoping I can wait for the result of the Columbia application before applying to NYU as their deadline is March 1.

I applied to NYU as well as Columbia. I haven't heard back from NYU but I am in the same situation as you. When did you apply to NYU??

Hi Everyone! I am an undergrad who wants to apply for Columbia MDE next year. I have some questions for people who were accepted. I am expecting that my Microbiology grade (which is a prerequisite) is going to be a C. Does this eliminate my chances of applying?

All pre-reqs should have a grade of "B" or higher.

Would I still be considered if only one prerequisite is less than a B? My others are all A's.
