Collin College Fall 2011

Published

Hello

I was just wondering who else is applying for the Fall 2011 start at Collin County in McKinney! Do you guys know how many applied & what the minimum amount of points was for the last term? What are your stats? (if you don't mind sharing!) Are you applying anywhere else? What school is your first choice?

I have 14 points. I am applying without one pre-req and received 6 points from the PSB. If I don't get accepted this time, I am hopeful for Spring 2012!

Good luck to everyone!

P.S. If anyone who is in the program or been in the program, has any tips to share, that would be great!!

i am also waitlisted..two more days and i find out what number i am....i heard there are 3 orientations after u get accepted...what happens if u miss one? r u automatically dropped from the program? and does anyone know how they pull you off the waiting list if someone drops and you get in?is it another letter?

Does anyone know someone who got an outright rejection letter? I know people with 11 points who received the exact same wait list letter with incorrect dates and it just seemed strange!! Did they waitlist everyone????

We had 2 orientations prior to the start of the semester and they were both mandatory. I have no clue if they would drop you from the program if you missed (no one did, as far as I know) but you definitely want to be there as they're very useful.

All I know is that for the first one on 4/29, if you're not there, according to the letter, you forfeit your position. It seems reasonable...because, if you can't go, there are about 300 other folks who'd die to take your place. Be there or be supa' square! :D

Good luck to everyone waiting!

I know someone who received a rejection letter. But she applied through the HCA Grow Your Own program. She had to submit application packets to both, so I'm not sure if Collin or HCA makes the admission decisions. But so far, she is the only one I know who received an actual rejection letter. I've heard friends saying they know people who have anywhere from 11 points & made a 2 on the PSB to those who have 15 points, maxed the PSB & have prior degrees...all made the wait list. I also heard the Nursing dept told someone that only 50 were placed on the wait list. Seems unlikely to me, because everyone I know was waitlisted.

Well, if prior degrees and all that were considered, I consider myself blessed to be in! I mean, i'm hearing 15's waitlisted, so I'm not sure how they made the decision. I guess it comes down to the nitty gritty details then.

i know someone with 13 pts that got a rejection letter and someone with 13 pts got waitlisted. i cant wait till tommorow-i really hope i am in the top 5.when anyone finds out about the cost of the program broken down by semester, please let me know.

Hello everyone! I have been reading the thread since January and decided to join now because I got my acceptance letter!!!:yeah: And wanted to have full access to everything on here. I too had 15 points, do you guys know if the people that did not get in with 15 points had any retakes on classes?? I hear that it can really hurt if it comes to a side by side comparison...

I am not sure. I am assuming since there were so many applicants, they might have had to look at all the details like retakes and stuff. I'm just very grateful I got in this time around! Can't wait to me ya', see you on the 29th!

The number of credits you have taken at Collin weighs in as well.

Did you repeat any of your classes? I do think that they look at that.

Sorry you didn't get in but keep your chin up!! You can do it. You might want to apply at Grayson college their deadline is March 31st.

Who's going to be working? Part time I mean......or at least attempting to. I have an employer who is hesitant to hire me part time unless they have a general idea what my scheudle will be come fall semester.
