Hello
I was just wondering who else is applying for the Fall 2011 start at Collin County in McKinney! Do you guys know how many applied & what the minimum amount of points was for the last term? What are your stats? (if you don't mind sharing!) Are you applying anywhere else? What school is your first choice?
I have 14 points. I am applying without one pre-req and received 6 points from the PSB. If I don't get accepted this time, I am hopeful for Spring 2012!
Good luck to everyone!
P.S. If anyone who is in the program or been in the program, has any tips to share, that would be great!!
Hi, im currently decieding whether I want to do an ADN or BSN(twu) at CCCD.
I have will have completed 3 out of 4 pre req's and already have most of my supporting credits for the ADN.
Any suggestions you have as far as getting in the ADN program? any other things you have heard on the BSN program?
THanks!!!
Congrats on everyone who got accepted! and good luck to the ones who are waiting!!
im sorry what is the med math book for? Which exam?
There's a med-math exam the first week of each semester in the nursing program. You have 3 tries to get at least a 90% on it. They'll give you all the information you'll need to study during your orientation, but it never hurts to get started early.
Good to know ckey01, Thanks!
I have been following this thread for a while now but have been reluctant to register only because I didn't think I would make it. I was waitlisted last semester and didn't think I would make it in this semester either...
I got my letter this week and ... YaY! I will be seeing you guys (Dagsmom, lil nic 32, and KLG20004) on the 29th!
I almost gave up. I was already setting up classes at TWU and planning on driving to Denton ( I live in McKinney)... I was planning on taking the TEAS and the HESI2 just to see where else I could go! I EVEN spoke to the Surgical Tech dept @ Collin just to see if it would help me in the long run to be an O.R. Nurse! (Bide my time).
Do Not Give Up! We waitlisters have worked too hard to just give up! Do what you need to get in there! And when you do, I will be waiting to tell you ... I told you so!
Good Luck to all and I hope to see all of you soon!
WOW! Congrats to everyone who made it in!!! I too was wait-listed along with a friend of mine. I can't believe there were so many applicants (360) this semester..I had NO idea until I read it in this forum! WOW!!! I wonder how many people they put on the wait list?? Guess I'll find out next week!! Congratulations to everyone..I hope to see you all on the 29th as well!!! Best Wishes!!!
Honesty I would just enjoy your family and free time this summer. There is nothing that is going to happen after the semester starts that they do not prepare you for. The first semester instructors are fantastic and they truly WANT you to succeed and take great measures to help you do so. It is an exceptional program. Start your med-math a few weeks before class starts, but don't stress over it. They do reviews before you ever take the exam and med math truly is not difficult. You will make most everything more difficult in your head the first semester than it really is. Everyone does.

That's certainly the truth. I spent the first month or so of this semester (my first) freaking out about how much work there is, about clinicals, and about how hard the tests would be. None of those things ended up being nearly as difficult as I imagined. If you just take things one day at a time and don't freak out, you'll be fine.
Yes, I'm transitioning so for me it works a bit different. I start my transition semester in the fall then based on my challenge exam scores and my skills check offs I will either be placed with your class in the spring or placed with the spring 2011 class. So, in short, I will either have to so 2 or 3 more semesters left after my transition semester.

I was a pretty frustrated!! I had heard lots applied and knew it wouldn't be automatic, but then another friend got in and her GPA and PSB scores were lower than mine so I was really shocked after my letter came!! It is what it is, we'll see what I find out next week.
