Collin College Fall 2011

Published

Hello

I was just wondering who else is applying for the Fall 2011 start at Collin County in McKinney! Do you guys know how many applied & what the minimum amount of points was for the last term? What are your stats? (if you don't mind sharing!) Are you applying anywhere else? What school is your first choice?

I have 14 points. I am applying without one pre-req and received 6 points from the PSB. If I don't get accepted this time, I am hopeful for Spring 2012!

Good luck to everyone!

P.S. If anyone who is in the program or been in the program, has any tips to share, that would be great!!

Several people get in from the waiting list each semester, so do not lose hope. Ask the nursing office if they can tell you where on the list you are. My class had five from the wait list that got in....some of whom didn't find out until right before the semester started.

Congrats lil-nic! :yeah: Yes, I'll for sure be there....don't want to forfeit my position...yikes! I'm so excited! I had a feeling there were many applying this time, but I did here there is an average of 5-10 that get in from the waitlist, so don't fret.

I have a friend who is on the waitlist. You can call and set up a meeting with them. I assume they will let you know where you are on it.

Yeah, try not to stress about the wait list too much. 2 of the 4 people in my clinical team were on the wait list and got in, so it definitely happens.

Congrats to all those who made it! I'll keep an eye out for you next semester ;). Feel free to shoot me any questions you may have.

Waitlisted too.....:crying2:

I'll find out where I fall on the list next week. I am beginning to consider apply for BSN programs & doing away the AN.

Oh man! I know lots of people waitlisted. wow. Well, I was going to reapply in Sept. for Collin and also TWU if I did not get in, so I think it's an excellent idea. The only reason why I did not apply for TWU this time around is becuase I did not have the classes I needed yet. Otherwise, this time I would have applied for both. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

@ckey....thanks so much. I'll probably eventually PM you...i alrady am having some questions pop up!

Collin is now partnered with TWU for an RN to BSN bridge program. If you continue immediately after getting your RN degree from Collin (and pass NCLEX), you are automatically accepted and you get to continue at Collin prices, graduating with a BSN from TWU. Can't beat it. I hear they plan to add MSN and Ph.D. eventually.

I also heard this particular application pool was one of the highest ever, if not the highest. Those who got waitlisted and did not get in - definitely apply for the January start date. Traditionaly there are fewer applicants and a greater chance of acceptance.

Wow, I wonder if they are going to include the DNP? That would be amazing! Thanks for the news on that! I also didn't know tha tif you do the bridge you get to do it at Collin prices. Thanks so much!

I have a questions though, RN2BDFW, what in your opionion should I do this summer? I am doing two online classes, nutrition and sociology, so i don't expect too much stress. I'll going tubing down the Guadalupe river with friends in June and enjoy myself, but do I need to be preparing for anything ahead of time. I was going to go ahead and learn the standard lab values and brush up on med terminology....would that help. Flashcards...you know?...easy just go over them in bed before crashing. :o

You'll want to get the Med-Math book and start working on that. Maybe do a quick brush up on your basic A&P, but other then that I would just try to relax as much as possible.

Do you know which Med-Math book it is or where I can find out? Since i'm not super savvy at math, i'd say that's a good idea.

It's Henke's Med-Math by Susan Buchholz 6th Edition. They have it in the CPC bookstore or you can get it from Amazon:

360 people! Wow. I was waitlisted with 15 points too. I am going next week to find out where I stand on the list.

Waitlisted with 15? Holy Cow! I wonder how many 16's they had?
