Collin College Fall 2011

U.S.A. Texas

Hello

I was just wondering who else is applying for the Fall 2011 start at Collin County in McKinney! Do you guys know how many applied & what the minimum amount of points was for the last term? What are your stats? (if you don't mind sharing!) Are you applying anywhere else? What school is your first choice?

I have 14 points. I am applying without one pre-req and received 6 points from the PSB. If I don't get accepted this time, I am hopeful for Spring 2012!

Good luck to everyone!

P.S. If anyone who is in the program or been in the program, has any tips to share, that would be great!!

I just submitted my app yesterday and it should be there tomorrow. I have a 15 according to the advisor who looked over everything. I'm trying not to think about it too much though. if not this time, then definately Spring 2012!:lol2:

I'm in the CCCCD program and start my first semester on Tuesday. We had out last orientation today. Based on the brief conversations I've had with some of the other 47 students in the class it seems like 15 and 16's got in straight away. Some 14's got in, but most were wait listed and then got in when others dropped or couldn't start for some reason. Good luck :).

Congratulations to starting on Tuesday, that's awesome!! Well, I have a 15 with one prereq in progress. Did you meet anyone who got in with one prereq in progress? I heard a weird rumor that if you have a prereq in progress that they factor it in as a grade of zero, so you prereq GPA goes down, but most everyone i've inquired with says it's not true at all. I'm just staying positive and trying actually right now to get a part time job in a hospital to get my feet wet. I am a volunteer in a local hospital right now and love it. Best of Luck to you on your first semester and if I get in, I might have some questions for ya'!!

DagsMom ;)

Yeah, there were a few folks in the class who had finished Micro after they applied. I don't think it counts against you very much, if at all.

Now that your app is in, try not too think about it too much. Nothing you can do about it now (other then doing well in Micro) so you might as well relax a bit. You certainly won't have much chance too after you get in ;).

Exaclty! I just decided now to focus on Micro and forget about it. So, micro for me on Tues. and a new program for you! So exciting! Fyi, i might request you as friend in case I get in and want to keep in touch. (if that's ok. ;)) Best of luck!!!

:yeah:Yes, CONGRATULATIONS on getting in!! I can only imagine how excited you are! Please do share any advice or knowledge you can with us. I am also completing Micro this semester. I was encouraged to go ahead and apply by the Nursing Program staff when I received my PSB scores. A guy in one of my classes last semester had applied and was accepted w/out completing one pre-req and one co-req. He was also starting in January and said about half of the January class had 14's. I guess there must have been quite a few 15's who didn't accept or couldn't start. He told me being a resident of Collin County and your PSB score holds a lot of weight. At this point, all I can do is like you said, concentrate on Micro and wait to see what happens. Good luck, ckey, on beginning the program and dagsmom, in Micro. I start class on Wednesday. I hope we both will have good news soon! ;)

Thanks yall! Good luck in Micro as well. That one was actually my favorite pre-req by far. A lot of people didn't care for the lab (lots of memorization) but I had a blast. It was nice to actually be doing something in lab other then staring at models ;). If yall have any questions I'll answer what I can.

I had a massive hysterical episode after I learned that I mistakenly put my scheduled PSB on my planner for 12/20 instead of 12/15. I missed it! Now I have to go on a waiting list. Totally my fault. :uhoh3: I'm applying as a bridge student and I am taking Micro now. Cross your fingers that I get a spot before the deadline.

-K

I actually wait listed for my PSB as well. The key is to pick one of the days where there are 2 test sessions. Get to the college at, or before, 6am and head straight up to the nursing office and get in or start a line. Once the nursing office opens everyone will add their name to the list. The goal is to be one of the first 10 on the waiting list (there's a wait list for each test session, it's not one big one for all sessions). If you're beyond that, your chances of getting into that session are pretty limited.

So....after that you'll head down and start chilling outside the testing center on the first floor. A few minutes before the test session starts the staff will line up the wait listed folks on one side and the normal list folks on the other. All the normal folks will go in and sit down and the staff will see how many open spots they have. They will then come out and call people in off the wait list. If there are seven open spots, then the top seven get in, if there's one open spot then only one gets in.

Now, what do you do if you don't get into the morning session? This is why I advised you to go on a day where there are two. The second you think you aren't going to make it into the first session you need to haul your butt back up to the nursing office and get in line again (take the stairs, much faster then the elevator). It will be another couple hours of waiting around, but it's worth it once you get in.

Ha! Funny, there were about 3 or 4 people in my Micro class talking about the nightmare of getting there early for the waitlist. I'm so sorry you missed it in December! Yuck!

Can someone please calm my nerves. They are thorough right??? I mean, I have a few coreq's form way back in 2000 that count as some A's and add to my total GPA. I mean, as long as I submitted my whole transcript, they look at the entire thing, correct?

According to the advisor, I have 15pts...and I know how it adds up too, but I feel all paranoid, like they might tell me I have less or something. Is there a rebuttal period or something if their totals or results don't seem right?

Thanks you guys!

What is the PSB? Srry if that's a dumb question
