Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

FOR THE LAST TIME, Just because I am pregnant does not mean I am suddenly an OB nurse and have that experience, knowledge, or qualifications!!!!!!!!!!!

Call ? your ? doctor ?people.

Love the hand claps!! This is exactly what I wanted to do a few minutes ago. Teacher feeling miserable, coughing up a lung x 3 weeks. CALL YOUR DOCTOR! "But I never ran a fever!" she says. CALL YOUR DOCTOR. A temp is not the end all be all of an assessment

Yes, same with BP's! I say it at least 3 times a week, "This is only a vital sign and is NOT anything close to the big picture. You really need to contact your doctor who follows your care, because that's not me."

today's gem: Managing 2 students with asthma symptoms at once and the gym teacher sends up a student whose toe has hurt "since Monday". Granted, the gym teacher wasn't aware of the asthmatics, but still... C'mon now!!

? I sent a kid home last week with a TERRIBLE cough but no fever. Suggested a visit to the doctor. Parents sent the kid back the next day. Day after that I get the "oops it was the flu" email. Since then 5 more kids in the class got the flu.

Brilliant! These kids will NOT be on the evening news. Rarely do I venture out of my cave, however today I had to give a med on the 3rd floor. As I am leaving my office I see the door open in the stairwell to the outside. This is a fire exit only. I check out the situation ? and there are 2 boys heading down the sidewalk. Boy B crosses the street, Boy A comes back to me. Stated he was texted that his ride was here. I asked, what did you tell your teacher? He said I asked to go to bathroom. No and Nope. Your ride would be in the attendance office and would call the teacher - NOT text. Take to attendance office (give them a synopsis) and go to my previous scheduled med. As I am going down the stairwell after med, boy B appears to be going to the front door. I meet him there and take him to the AP's. Boy A denies knowing boy B, boy B said he knew boy A. Boy B is almost in tears. Quick check on attendance and grades - has not been absent all year and mostly A's.

Why on earth would you decide to do this today. At least wait for a beautiful spring day and not today's overcast dreary day. ? Plus you got caught by the nurse, lamest escape EVER!

I have had multiple parents tell me this year that their kiddos had flu without ever running a fever. They all wanted guidance on when to return. I punted that to the doctor and told them since that's the case I need clearance for them to return. Flu has been so tricky this year. ?

just had a kid come in and ask me for a qtip to clean out his airpod...come on now!

I frequently get asked for qtips for various reasons. the answer is always no you may not use my qtips for that. nor may you use it for your ear! I am not going to be responsible if you bust your ear drum putting it in too far. clean your ears out at home!

This!!! Cleaning ears with q-tips to clean ears is NOT evidenced-based practice is what I tell them. Not gonna put butter on a burn or drown a tiny scratch in hydrogen peroxide either.

I have a student who has a history of Poststreptococcal Glomerulonephritis.

At least 8-10 times a school year for 2 years, kid presents to the clinic (usually on Monday morning after playing baseball all weekend) with complaints of not feeling well, sore throat. Now, he always tells me that he told mom or dad before school and they send him to check in with me. Sometimes his throat is red and sometimes it is not. Well, I always recommend a strep test no matter what with his history.

I left a message for dad this morning with my same message I have given him about 20 times. He almost always gets mad that I am recommending medical follow up but NOT telling him it is an emergency and needs to be picked up right away. Now usually, he picks him up and it is the next day before he has him strep tested.

Why should it be an EMERGENCY for me to send him home if it is NOT AN EMERGENCY for him to be sent to school and or wait 1-2 days to be tested?

Just keep him home and get him to the doctor as soon as he complains. I really do not even need to be part of the equation at all as I cannot diagnose strep!!!!

C'MON NOW, why does it always seem to be Monday?

So frustrating on so many levels.

I feel your pain.

I also silently say your name when I get yet another bag of ice for a kiddo.

Every. Single. Time.

Stay strong.

I hope this was the last of Monday acting like a Monday.
