i thought this would be a great place for us to ask each other questions and help each other out with concerns, school work etc... during the next year.
please feel free to join if you are starting your lpn program this fall. :balloons:
my name is michelle, i'm 30 and i live in virginia. i'm looking forward to meeting all of you.
Congrats on the new baby you will be bringing in soon :heartbeat
I am 22 and a mother of two also, i have a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old.....I will be starting the LPN program in Sept....I am sooo nervous you know having kids and all I know you know how I feel......i wish you alll the Luck.... :)
Bobbye, where are you attending school? Are you in a 12 month program?I am looking to get my RN also, hopefully fairly quickly after I finish with my LPN.
Me, too. If it works out the way I want it to, I'll be an RN in the same amount of time it would've taken me had I went straight into the 2 year RN program. That doesn't actually start until next May ('06) and will end in May '08. The way I'm doing it, I can finish up my 12 month LPN, work on 3 more prereq's for RN and start the transition to RN in May '07. I'd finish up in May '08. I'm hoping I might even be able to work part time as an LPN while doing RN, but who knows.

Congratulations to everyone here on getting into school!! I am a 39 y/o, mother of one, age 18, My LPN program starts Sept. 6th, and is 15 months long! I am so excited. I am a displaced worker, and going back to school, however, I am not a stranger to Healthcare. I was a CNA for 15 years, in Rehab Nursing, Nursing Home, Home Health and Private Duty. Like many of you it has been my dream to do this since childhood but I have done alot of other things since High School that had to take precedence!? Good to meet you all and I look forward to the next year or so with you. It will be interesting to see if I can learn again, LOL I hope I can be a support to anyone who needs it!!
I live in Missouri, am 28 years old, and mother to 5 kids, aged 11, 9, 7, 6, and 4. I am starting the LPN program on August 9th, after waiting my entire life to get on this track :) I wanted to raise my kids first before I started, so I got a headstart on having them. My goal is to one day be a Nurse Practicioner Midwife who takes care of and sees women and children. My brother is a Nurse Practicioner at Vanderbilt University specializing in AIDS research and runs an Aids clinic. Nursing has always been in my blood, and I am very excited to start. I have also worked as a volunteer EMT before I had my last son.
Sounds like we have alot in common. I am 30,and mother to 5 wonderful children, too. Their ages are 12, 11, 7, 4, 21 months. Wow, makes me tired just writing it. I have also tried to get most of my children to the age that I would feel comfortable w/ go to school. With the exception of one. Our goals are a little different. And I also have some experience in the health field that I am hoping will come in handy. Good luck to you, I hope to hear from you again. Bobbye ::)
Congrats to all of you who got accepted and will soon be starting school best of luck to all of you. With dertermination i'm sure you will all do fine. I was going to start school this August. I passed my entrance exam and had all my things turned in just had the nrsg interview left and i had to cancel b/c i wouldnt of been able to afford not working adn i was told you really couldnt work while going to school. Lpn school is a full time job. But im saving this year in hopes of going next year. I have worked in geriatrics for 6 years now im a cna/cmt and phelbotomy certified. I'm hoping my nrsg exp will help me in my journey in nrsg. my ultimate goal is to do a one year bridge over program after lpn and going on to LPN. I would like to pursue wound care or a plastic surgery nurse. Again, good luck to everyone would love to hear how everythings coming along. God Bless Tiffany
:) Glad to meet all of you! Just got my letter yesterday - am excited and scared at the same time.
I'm going to school in Texas, have orientation in July, and start class late August. My program is a 12 month class, 5 days a week, 8 a.m.-5p.m. Our clinicals start in early October.
I'm scheduled to take a Health Care Provider CPR class in June. Also, have to get lots of shots (not my favorite), and start looking for books, scrubs and shoes. Our scrubs are awful! We'll all look like giant marshmallows, but that's just how it is!
Really happy I found this thread. Let's all keep in touch through our journey in nursing.
Hi everybody and welcome :balloons:. I remember being just as excited as you guys just a few short months ago. I started an 18 month, part-time, evening program in March. I'll be done in Aug/Sept 2006. It seems like we have been in school much longer (we've already completed about 6 classes). It's very intense, but I'm loving every minute of it. I know I'm not officially a member of the Fall '05 LPN club (I only have a slight headstart) but I will be finishing about the same time as you guys and if anyone has any questions about anything you can feel free to ask and I'll help you as much as I can. My best advice to everyone is READ, READ, READ. Don't attempt to do it beforehand because all teachers focus on different things and they'll tell you exactly what they'll want you to know. Good luck to everyone and I'll see everyone at the cyperparty at graduation .
Hi-
my name is Dot I am 45 years old .Just got my acceptance letter today!I am married and have 3 kids:23,21and 18 so there will be 3 of us in school at the same time. l have orientation on June15 and start school the beginning of Sept.
I am so looking forward to becoming a nurse.
I have been a mammographer/radiographer for 20+ years but something was missing...I know that nursing is where I belong!!!
Glad to be a part of Club LPN!!!
Dot
My name is Gwen, I am 36 years old, getting married(for the second time) in Sept. I got my call last Monday and offical letter in orienation on Weds. I will be starting my LPN program in July and hope to bridge to RN not long after finshing LPN. I was a certified medical assistant working in ob/gyn for several years, and for the last 12 years I have been a registed veterinary technician working in zoo medicine and emergency/critical care. I have been told my back ground will help, but I am still not crazy about the thought of doing care plans(hated doing them in veterinary medicine, I don't think that will change much). At present time I am not sure what I would like to specialize in public health, infectious disease, ob/gyn, etc... I think I will have a better idea after a couple of semesters. Good luck to all.
