  1. Has anyone ever taken a CNA course that was taught at a nursing home instead of in the traditional classroom?? The class is taught by a teacher from a technical school. I signed up for a class next month and just wanted to know what to expect?? Michele
  2. Hello, I have been coming to this website for the last year and a half. I was on the waiting listing for the LPN program in my area (FL) for over a year and a half. I finally got my seat in January 2006. After starting nursing school I found out from my mother's husband that she was being moved from the hospital to hospice. I was in total shock, my family knew how bad I wanted to get into nursing school and kept the fact that my mother was so sick. After learning that my mother was going to hospice, I decided to withdraw from the program. I knew my mother would be alone and didnt want her to die without someone being by her side. When I withdrew from from the LPN program I assumed I would be by my mother's side for a few months. Those few months ended up being 2 weeks. My mother's illness took her pretty fast. I have been in total shock about my mother's death and have just not wanted to think about anything else. It is now time to reapply for the nursing program again. I have been going back and forth as to what to do. In my heart I know I want more than anything to be a nurse. But then on the other hand I am so afraid and not sure what to do. I don't want to pass up my chance to reapply to the program..
  3. I am starting a LPN program January 3 in Tampa. My program is 12 months long. I didn't think the day would ever get here. I am so excited!!
  4. These websites are great! I am going to be a nursing student starting in January and have been searching for sites such as these.. Thanks!
  5. The cost for the Tampa school is around $3500.
  6. I have been waiting a year and I finally got my seat in the LPN program. I start in January and just had to tell someone. I am so excited.
  7. You start school this Monday? What made you finally decide to go with that school ? What hours will you be attending? How long is your program?
  8. I have been attending HCC and will be applying for the nursing program in the future. I was told by the student advisors that they only accept 200 students for the basic program and 100 for the LPN transitional program. I too thought there was a waiting list but there isn't it is just very competive on getting into one of these programs. Good Luck!
  9. I am curious about being tested for a learning disability. What kind of doctor would do this kind of testing? your family dr?
  10. Did you sign up for Galen? I wasnt sure if you decided for sure to go with that school?
  11. I live in Brandon, FL and am a student to be. I am on the back up list for LPN school and hope to start in January. Is there anyone here who has attended HCC or Erwin Hi-Tech Center?
  12. I have been debating about taking a CNA course. I am on the backup list for LPN school and should start in January but I assume that if I took a CNA course now it would help me when going through LPN school. Does anyone have any advise?
  13. How did you find a nursing home that offered a free CNA class?
  14. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Lately I have been discouraged because of the wait and having too much time to think about if I am doing the right thing and if I can do it..blah blah..blah All this second guessing and I havent even started the program. I have not heard anything more from the school. I assume that she is working on the October class now since its the middle of Sept. I am not sure if you choose first available class or day only.
  15. Did you start your CNA class? How is it going?
