No Job!
Hi- I am so discouraged. I grad in June, NCLEX in Aug. I am having trouble finding a job. I really want to work in an assisted living(brand new)...went for one interview and was called back for a second interview 3 weeks later...and was told they would be making a decision in 2 weeks. I feel like my life is on hold! I also went for an interview at a nsg home and told the administrator that I couldn't work weekends and he basically told me that only desperate facilities would hire someone who couldn't work weekends and they were not a desperate facility! Before becoming an LPN I was a mammographer and I decided that I really needed to do more than sit home, so I went back per diem...I feel like I went to LPN school for nothing. I am making more money as a mammo tech and can basically pick and choose my hours! I am so frustrated!!! Dot

Advice On Becoming A Nurse in my Forties!
Hi Just graduated from LPN program at 46 yo. Had top GPA...We had a number of over 40's in our class as well as under 25's. It was a hard decision for me to go back to school...didn't think my brain could handle all the new info...I won't lie, studying in your 40's takes a lot more than studying in your 20's but if you realize that from the get go and are willing to put time and effort into it, you can do it! It was a huge boost to my self esteem knowing how well I did! Good luck with your decision! Dot

What's It All About, ALFie?--Help and Support for Assisted Living Nurses
Hello- I am a new LPN and have my first interview tomorrow at an ALF. Do you think that a new nurse can successfully work at an ALF. From all that I've read, this is exactly the type of environment I want to work in. It seems to involve so much more patient contact and holistical treatment of the patients. Any advice would be helpful Thanks Dot

Took NCLEX PN yesterday
Hi- I took the PN yesterday...shut off at 85...just in the middle of filling out the survey and the power for the building went out...they said at the test center that this had never happened before...figures!...we had to sit in the parking lot for 45 minutes before the power came back on...and all of us thinking...did they lose my test???? Thankfully, it picked up where we left off! Hopefully, this power failure is not a sign...AHHHHH! Dot

NCSBN learningext.com
HI I am using this now and I don't find it particularly useful. It's ok as a bare bones review but I am finding that some of the answers are incorrect...starts to make me question myself. The one good thing...I am only doing the 3 week program I have also been using Saunders; find that much more beneficial. Wouldn't recommend it...stick with Saunders. Dot

Club LPN / Fall '05
Hi- I had my orientation about a month ago. It was very welcoming. They provided a continental breakfast while the instructors introduced themselves. We then had to introduce ourselves. We were given the handbook for the program...had a couple of presentations...bought books and uniforms...had a tour. We were then treated to lunch! They did say that the program is intense but they will try very hard so that no one fails. In general, my instructors seem very caring! I can't wait for September! Good Luck and don't be scared! Dot

Xray tech~ more $$$ than RN???
Hello All- I am a radiographer/mammographer...have been one for 21+ years. I have made the decision to leave xray because I want more patient contact (hopefully will be going to LPN school) Let me set the record straight: I was employed in a private imaging office and left making 19.00 /hr. The work load is unbelievable --all about the numbers not about the patients. I graduated with an Associates Degree in 1981. There are Bachelor's programs in Radiography( no difference in pay to start but a lot of these techs go on to be managers) I think that if you love what you do, then you shouldn't let what others say bother you.
